Malaysia: TAFI Convention 2022 starts today in Kuching

SPT News: TAFI Convention 2022 started today to promote the tourism industry and strengthen the base of tourism between India and Malaysia. The convention was inaugurated in the city of Kuching, Malaysia. The convention will continue till September 23. TAFI convention has been held in Malaysia twice before. However, this year’s convention of the Travel Agents Federation of India(TAFI) is being held for the first time in Kuching. TAFI members have reached Kuching to join here.

Sarawak has huge potential to become a popular destination in the Indian market – Ajay Prakash

A delegation from Taffy visited Kuching in Malaysia before the convention began. The team was led by Ajay Prakash, president of TAFI. He said at the time – “The Indian market is growing, and they are constantly looking for newer destinations, products and experiences, and Sarawak has great potential to become a popular destination in the Indian market becuse today’s generation is concerned about the planet, conservation and sustainability. With the support of Tourism Malaysia, Sarawak Tourism Board and Business Events Sarawak, I think we are going to have a wonderful convention and we are looking forward to it.”

Very nice arrangement – Anil Punjabi

Anil Panjabi, Chairman of TAFI, went to Malaysia with his family to attend the convention. He went as a representative of TAFI from West Bengal. He said on the phone from Malaysia that a very nice arrangement has been made here. Malaysia is a collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP), Tourism Malaysia (TM), Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) and Business Events (BE) Sarawak. On this day, the convention was inaugurated at the specified time.

Themed “Build Back Better” to strengthen the tourism industry and move towards a resilient economic recovery, the conference will highlight sustainability, enhanced greening efforts, conservation and responsible tourism during its sessions.

Representing the travel trade in India, TAFI is a progressive and vibrant association with a nationwide membership of 1,400 members and growing. The majority of TAFI members are IATA accredited agents and contribute more than 75% of outbound business in India.

Know about Sarawak

Kuching city is the capital of Sarawak province. Sarawak (the other being Sabah) is one of the two Malaysian provinces located on the island of Borneo. Sarawak is the largest province in Malaysia. Its other name is Bumi Kenyalang, meaning “Land of Hornbills”. The symbol of Sarawak is also a rhinoceros bird. This bird is a symbol of war in the religion of the inhabitants here.

Sarawak is located on the northwest side of the island of Borneo. Sabah is another province of Malaysia on this island located to its northeast. In addition, the Sultanate of Brunei is a small country located on the northeast coast. Sarawak is bounded by the South China Sea to the north and northwest and Indonesia to the south and southeast.

Spread over 1,24,450 square kilometers, this province is not only the largest in Malaysia, but in many ways it is different from other provinces in Malaysia. It is home to many tribes, whose language, religion, and culture are all different from the rest of Malaysia. Sarawak is named after the Sarawak River that flows past the capital Kuching.
