এসপিটি নিউজ, কলকাতা, ১২ জুন: পশ্চিমবঙ্গের নবনিযুক্ত পর্যটন মন্ত্রী ড. শংকর ঘোষকে অভিনন্দন ও শুভেচ্ছা জানালেন ট্রাভেল এজেন্টস ফেডারেশন অব ইন্ডিয়া (TAFI)-র ইস্টার্ন ইন্ডিয়া চ্যাপ্টারের চেয়ারম্যান অনিল পাঞ্জাবি। বৃহস্পতিবার পাঠানো এক শুভেচ্ছাপত্রে তিনি শুধু অভিনন্দনই জানাননি, রাজ্যের পর্যটন শিল্পের বিকাশে পর্যটন দফতরের সঙ্গে যৌথভাবে কাজ করার আগ্রহও প্রকাশ করেছেন।
চিঠিতে অনিল পাঞ্জাবি উল্লেখ করেন, এমন এক সময়ে ড. শংকর ঘোষ পর্যটন দফতরের দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করেছেন, যখন পর্যটন পশ্চিমবঙ্গের অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়ন, কর্মসংস্থান সৃষ্টি, সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য সংরক্ষণ এবং আন্তর্জাতিক পরিচিতি বৃদ্ধির অন্যতম প্রধান চালিকাশক্তি হয়ে উঠছে।
তিনি বলেন, হিমালয়ের কোলে উত্তরবঙ্গ, সুন্দরবনের অনন্য ম্যানগ্রোভ অরণ্য, সমৃদ্ধ ঐতিহ্য, আধ্যাত্মিক পর্যটন, বৈচিত্র্যময় খাদ্যসংস্কৃতি, উৎসব এবং সাংস্কৃতিক পরম্পরা—সব মিলিয়ে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ দেশের অন্যতম সমৃদ্ধ পর্যটন গন্তব্য। সঠিক নীতি, উন্নত অবকাঠামো, কার্যকর প্রচার এবং শিল্পমহলের সহযোগিতার মাধ্যমে রাজ্য দেশি-বিদেশি পর্যটক আকর্ষণে আরও বড় সাফল্য অর্জন করতে পারে বলেও তিনি আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করেন।
দেশের অন্যতম বৃহৎ ও প্রভাবশালী ট্রাভেল ট্রেড সংগঠন হিসেবে TAFI পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের সঙ্গে ঘনিষ্ঠভাবে কাজ করতে আগ্রহী বলেও চিঠিতে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে। সেইসঙ্গে পর্যটনের সার্বিক উন্নয়নের লক্ষ্যে কয়েকটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রস্তাবও তুলে ধরা হয়েছে।
TAFI-এর প্রস্তাবগুলির মধ্যে উল্লেখযোগ্য:
- পর্যটন প্রচার ও ডেস্টিনেশন মার্কেটিং কার্যক্রমে যৌথ উদ্যোগ।
- সরকার ও ট্রাভেল ট্রেডের মধ্যে নিয়মিত সমন্বয় বৈঠক।
- হেরিটেজ, সাংস্কৃতিক, গ্রামীণ, ইকো, নদীভিত্তিক ও খাদ্যভিত্তিক পর্যটনের মতো বিশেষায়িত পর্যটন খাতের উন্নয়ন।
- পর্যটন শিল্পের সঙ্গে যুক্ত ব্যক্তিদের দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধি ও প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মসূচি।
- বিমান যোগাযোগ ও পর্যটন অবকাঠামোর উন্নয়নে সহযোগিতা।
- আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যটক এবং বিনিয়োগ আকর্ষণে পশ্চিমবঙ্গকে আরও কার্যকরভাবে তুলে ধরা।
- পর্যটন মেলা, কনভেনশন ও শিল্পসংক্রান্ত বৃহৎ অনুষ্ঠানে যৌথ অংশগ্রহণ।
চিঠির শেষে অনিল পাঞ্জাবি ড. শংকর ঘোষের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাতের আগ্রহ প্রকাশ করে বলেন, পর্যটন শিল্প ও সরকারের মধ্যে একটি কার্যকর রোডম্যাপ তৈরি করে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের পর্যটনকে নতুন উচ্চতায় নিয়ে যাওয়া সম্ভব।
পর্যটন মহলের মতে, রাজ্যের নতুন পর্যটন মন্ত্রীর প্রতি দেশের অন্যতম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ট্রাভেল ট্রেড সংগঠনের এই ইতিবাচক বার্তা আগামী দিনে সরকার ও শিল্পমহলের মধ্যে আরও নিবিড় সহযোগিতার পথ প্রশস্ত করতে পারে। পশ্চিমবঙ্গের পর্যটন সম্ভাবনাকে বিশ্বদরবারে আরও জোরালোভাবে তুলে ধরার ক্ষেত্রেও এই উদ্যোগ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা নিতে পারে।

TAFI Congratulates West Bengal Tourism Minister Dr. Shankar Ghosh, Offers Partnership for Tourism Development
SPT News, Kolkata, June 12: The Eastern India Chapter of the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) has extended its warm congratulations to Dr. Shankar Ghosh on his appointment as the Minister-in-Charge of the Department of Tourism, Government of West Bengal. In a formal letter, TAFI Eastern India Chairman Anil Punjabi expressed confidence in the minister’s leadership and outlined several proposals aimed at accelerating the growth of the state’s tourism sector.
In his message, Punjabi highlighted that Dr. Ghosh assumes office at a crucial time when tourism is emerging as a major driver of economic growth, employment generation, cultural preservation, and global visibility for West Bengal.
He emphasized that West Bengal possesses some of India’s most diverse tourism assets, including the Himalayan landscapes of North Bengal, the unique mangrove ecosystem of the Sundarbans, rich heritage sites, spiritual destinations, vibrant festivals, and a renowned culinary tradition. With focused policy initiatives, improved infrastructure, destination promotion, and industry collaboration, the state has the potential to significantly increase both domestic and international tourist arrivals, he noted.
Representing one of India’s largest and most respected travel trade associations, TAFI expressed its willingness to work closely with the state government and the Department of Tourism to advance a shared vision for sustainable tourism development.
Key Proposals Put Forward by TAFI
- Joint tourism promotion and destination marketing campaigns.
- Regular interaction and development meetings between the government and the travel trade fraternity.
- Promotion of niche tourism segments, including heritage, cultural, rural, eco, river, and culinary tourism.
- Skill development and capacity-building programs for tourism stakeholders.
- Strengthening air connectivity and tourism infrastructure to support long-term growth.
- Promoting West Bengal as a preferred destination for international tourists and tourism-related investments.
- Collaborative participation in major tourism fairs, conventions, and industry events.
TAFI also expressed its desire to meet with the minister to discuss potential areas of cooperation and develop a practical roadmap through which the travel industry and the government can jointly accelerate tourism growth across the state.
Industry observers believe that the proactive outreach from TAFI reflects a positive intent to build stronger public-private partnerships in tourism. Such collaborations could play a significant role in enhancing West Bengal’s position as one of India’s leading tourism destinations and increasing its visibility in international markets.
