এসপিটি নিউজ, বোধগয়া, ২০ আগস্ট: বৌদ্ধধর্ম, আধ্যাত্মিক ঐতিহ্য এবং মানুষের সঙ্গে মানুষের সম্পর্কের সুদৃঢ় বন্ধনকে সামনে রেখে বোধগয়ায় একাধিক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অনুষ্ঠানে অংশ নিলেন কলকাতায় নিযুক্ত থাইল্যান্ডের কনসাল-জেনারেল সিরিপর্ন তান্তিপানিয়াথেপ। ১৬ ও ১৭ আগস্টের এই সফরে থাইল্যান্ডের রাজতন্ত্রের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন, বৌদ্ধ ঐতিহ্য সংরক্ষণ এবং ভারত-থাইল্যান্ডের দীর্ঘদিনের বন্ধুত্বকে আরও মজবুত করার বার্তা উঠে এসেছে।
রয়্যাল থাই কনসুলেট-জেনারেল, কলকাতার প্রকাশিত এক প্রেস রিলিজে জানানো হয়েছে, বোধগয়ার পবিত্র ভূমিতে আয়োজিত বিভিন্ন ধর্মীয় ও স্মরণানুষ্ঠানে অংশ নিয়ে কনসাল-জেনারেল থাইল্যান্ডের বৌদ্ধ ঐতিহ্যের প্রতি দেশের অঙ্গীকার এবং ভারতের সঙ্গে সাংস্কৃতিক ও আধ্যাত্মিক সম্পর্কের গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরেন।
থাই রাজার ৭৪তম জন্মবার্ষিকী উপলক্ষে বিশেষ বৌদ্ধ অনুষ্ঠান
সফরের অন্যতম প্রধান কর্মসূচি ছিল থাইল্যান্ডের মহামান্য রাজার ৭৪তম জন্মবার্ষিকী উপলক্ষে আয়োজিত ধর্মীয় অনুষ্ঠান। বোধগয়ার ওয়াট থাই বুদ্ধগয়ার পবিত্র বোধিবৃক্ষের নীচে অনুষ্ঠিত হয় বৌদ্ধ ধর্মগ্রন্থ পাঠ, প্রতিরক্ষামূলক পরিত্ত আবৃত্তি এবং আশীর্বাদ অনুষ্ঠান।
এই ধর্মীয় অনুষ্ঠানে সভাপতিত্ব করেন ওয়াট থাই বুদ্ধগয়ার প্রধান অধ্যক্ষ এবং ভারত ও নেপালে থাই ধম্মদূত মিশনের প্রধান মোস্ট ভেনারেবল ফ্রা ব্রহ্মবজিরাপোধ্যাভংস। অনুষ্ঠানে ৭৪ জন প্রবীণ ভিক্ষু বৌদ্ধ ধর্মগ্রন্থ পাঠ ও পুণ্যকর্মে অংশ নেন।
একই অনুষ্ঠানে থাইল্যান্ডের প্রয়াত রানি সিরিকিত, দ্য কুইন মাদার এবং রাজকন্যা সিরিবজিরাভুধা নারীরাতের উদ্দেশ্যেও পুণ্য উৎসর্গ করা হয়।
পূর্বপুরুষ স্মরণ দিবসে ৬৯ আন্তর্জাতিক ভিক্ষুর অংশগ্রহণ
১৭ আগস্ট কনসাল-জেনারেল ২০২৬ সালের Ancestors’ Remembrance Day Ceremony-তেও অংশ নেন। এই অনুষ্ঠানে থাই ধর্ম্মদূত মিশনের প্রাক্তন প্রধান, ভারতে নিযুক্ত প্রাক্তন থাই রাষ্ট্রদূত এবং কলকাতার প্রাক্তন কনসাল-জেনারেলদের স্মরণে বিশেষ পুণ্য উৎসর্গ অনুষ্ঠান অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
ভারতে বৌদ্ধধর্মের পুনরুজ্জীবন ও প্রসারে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালনকারী ঐতিহাসিক ব্যক্তিত্বদের স্মরণে আয়োজিত এই অনুষ্ঠানে ৬৯ জন আন্তর্জাতিক ভিক্ষু ধর্মীয় আচার ও বৌদ্ধ ধর্মগ্রন্থ পাঠে অংশ নেন।
অনুষ্ঠানের একটি বিশেষ পর্বে বৌদ্ধধর্মে অসামান্য অবদানের জন্য ফ্রা বোধিবিসিজ্রাচারিয়া এবং ক্লাথার ফাউন্ডেশনকে সেমা ধম্মচক্র অ্যাওয়ার্ড প্রদান করা হয়। এই উপলক্ষে ওয়াট থাই বুদ্ধগয়ার গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকার স্বীকৃতিস্বরূপ কনসাল-জেনারেল আর্থিক সহায়তাও প্রদান করেন।
ভারতের স্বাধীনতা দিবসেও থাই কনসাল-জেনারেলের উপস্থিতি
এর আগে, ১৫ আগস্ট ভারতের স্বাধীনতা দিবস উপলক্ষে ওয়াট থাই বুদ্ধগয়ায় আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানে যোগ দেন সিরিপর্ন তান্তিপানিয়াথেপ। তিনি ভারতের জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন অনুষ্ঠানে অংশ নেন এবং ভারতবাসীকে স্বাধীনতা দিবসের শুভেচ্ছা জানান।
এদিন তিনি ওয়াট থাই বুদ্ধগয়ার ছাত্রছাত্রীদের সঙ্গে মধ্যাহ্নভোজে যোগ দেওয়ার পাশাপাশি প্রয়োজনীয় সামগ্রীও বিতরণ করেন। এই উদ্যোগের মধ্য দিয়ে ভারত ও থাইল্যান্ডের মধ্যে দীর্ঘদিনের বন্ধুত্ব এবং মানুষে-মানুষে সম্পর্কের আরও একটি মানবিক দৃষ্টান্ত সামনে আসে।
বুদ্ধের ভূমিতে সাংস্কৃতিক কূটনীতির নতুন বার্তা
বৌদ্ধধর্মের অন্যতম পবিত্র তীর্থক্ষেত্র বোধগয়া বহু শতাব্দী ধরেই ভারত ও থাইল্যান্ডের সাংস্কৃতিক এবং আধ্যাত্মিক সম্পর্কের এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সেতুবন্ধন। সাম্প্রতিক এই কর্মসূচিগুলি সেই সম্পর্ককে আরও গভীর করেছে বলেই মনে করা হচ্ছে।
রয়্যাল থাই কনসুলেট-জেনারেল, কলকাতার মতে, এই ধরনের উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমে থাই রাজতন্ত্রের প্রতি সম্মান, বৌদ্ধ ঐতিহ্যের সংরক্ষণ, বিদেশে বসবাসকারী থাই সম্প্রদায়ের কল্যাণ এবং ভারত-থাইল্যান্ডের সাংস্কৃতিক ও জনসম্পর্ককে আরও এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়ার অঙ্গীকার প্রতিফলিত হয়েছে।
বোধগয়ার পবিত্র ভূমিতে ধর্ম, সংস্কৃতি ও কূটনীতির এই মিলন আবারও প্রমাণ করল—ভারত ও থাইল্যান্ডের সম্পর্ক শুধু রাষ্ট্রীয় সহযোগিতার মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ নয়; দুই দেশের বন্ধুত্বের ভিত্তি গড়ে উঠেছে এক অভিন্ন আধ্যাত্মি ঐতিহ্য, বৌদ্ধ সভ্যতা এবং মানুষের হৃদয়ের বন্ধনের উপর।

Thailand, India Reinforce Buddhist and Cultural Bonds at Bodh Gaya
BODH GAYA, India, Aug. 20, 2026 — Thailand and India strengthened their longstanding spiritual and cultural ties this week as Thailand’s Consul-General in Kolkata, Siriporn Tantipanyathep, joined a series of Buddhist ceremonies and commemorative events in Bodh Gaya, one of Buddhism’s holiest sites.
The events, held from Aug. 16 to 17 at Wat Thai Buddhagaya, highlighted Thailand’s commitment to preserving Buddhist heritage while underlining the deep historical and people-to-people connections between the two Asian nations.
Tantipanyathep presided over a ceremony marking the 74th birthday anniversary of Thailand’s King, which included the chanting of Buddhist scriptures, the recitation of protective Parittas and a blessing ceremony beneath the sacred Bodhi Tree.
The religious rites were led by Most Venerable Phra Brahmajirapodhivong, Chief Abbot of Wat Thai Buddhagaya and head of the Thai Dhammaduta Mission to India and Nepal. Seventy-four senior monks participated in the chanting ceremony.
The programme also included merit-making ceremonies dedicated to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana.
During her visit, the Consul-General also attended the 2026 Ancestors’ Remembrance Day Ceremony and presided over a merit-dedication event honouring former heads of the Thai Dhammaduta Mission, former Thai ambassadors to India and former consuls-general in Kolkata.
Sixty-nine international monks took part in the ceremony, which paid tribute to prominent figures whose contributions played a significant role in the revival and propagation of Buddhism in India.
A felicitation ceremony was also held to honour Phra Bodhivisijracharya and the Klathar Foundation for their contributions to Buddhism. On the occasion, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata extended financial support to Wat Thai Buddhagaya in recognition of its role in serving and supporting the Thai community and others in Bodh Gaya and nearby areas.
Earlier, on Aug. 15, Tantipanyathep joined India’s Independence Day celebrations at Wat Thai Buddhagaya, participating in the Indian flag-hoisting ceremony and extending greetings and best wishes to the people of India.
She also joined students for lunch and distributed essential supplies, in a gesture reflecting the close friendship and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Bodh Gaya, where Gautama Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment, has long served as a powerful spiritual link between India and Thailand. Thailand maintains a strong Buddhist presence in the region through Wat Thai Buddhagaya and its religious and community initiatives.
The latest engagements, according to the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata, reflected Thailand’s continued commitment to honouring its monarchy, preserving Buddhism, supporting Thai communities overseas and advancing Thailand-India relations through shared spiritual heritage, cultural diplomacy and people-to-people cooperation.
The ceremonies also underscored how the relationship between India and Thailand extends beyond diplomatic and economic engagement, drawing strength from centuries of shared Buddhist traditions and cultural exchanges.
As Buddhist chants echoed beneath the Bodhi Tree, the events offered another reminder of Bodh Gaya’s enduring role not only as a sacred destination, but also as a meeting point where faith, culture and diplomacy continue to connect nations.
