এসপিটি নিউজ, কলকাতা, ১১ আগস্ট: সিনেমার পর্দায় থাইল্যান্ডের পাহাড়, সমুদ্র, মানুষ, সংস্কৃতি ও জীবনের নানা গল্প। কলকাতায় দ্বিতীয় Thai Film Festival 2026-এ চলচ্চিত্রের মাধ্যমে দর্শকদের সামনে উঠে এল এক অন্যরকম থাইল্যান্ড—যেখানে পর্যটনের আকর্ষণের সঙ্গে মিশে গেল সংস্কৃতি, সম্পর্ক, ভালোবাসা এবং মানুষের জীবনযাত্রা।
Amazing Thailand in Kolkata 2026-এর অংশ হিসেবে কলকাতার অ্যাক্রোপলিস মলের Cinépolis-এ গত ৭ থেকে ৯ আগস্ট এই চলচ্চিত্র উৎসবের আয়োজন করে কলকাতায় অবস্থিত Royal Thai Consulate-General। উৎসবের মূল ভাবনা ছিল—“A Cinematic Journey Through Time & Scenery”। তিন দিনে মোট সাতটি থাই চলচ্চিত্রের বিনামূল্যে প্রদর্শনের ব্যবস্থা করা হয়।
উৎসবের উদ্বোধন করেন কলকাতায় থাইল্যান্ডের রয়্যাল থাই কনসাল জেনারেল সিরিপর্ন তান্তিপান্যাথেপ। উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে তিনি বলেন, ভারত থেকে প্রতি বছর বহু মানুষ থাইল্যান্ডে ভ্রমণ করেন। তবে পর্যটনের পাশাপাশি তাঁরা যেন থাইল্যান্ডের সংস্কৃতি, জীবনযাত্রা ও মানুষের সঙ্গে আরও পরিচিত হতে পারেন, সেটিই এই ধরনের উদ্যোগের অন্যতম লক্ষ্য।
তিনি দর্শকদের উদ্দেশে বলেন, থাই সিনেমা দেখুন, থাইল্যান্ডকে জানুন। সিনেমার মাধ্যমে দেশের সংস্কৃতি ও মানুষের জীবনকে কাছ থেকে জানলে থাইল্যান্ড ভ্রমণের অভিজ্ঞতাও আরও আকর্ষণীয় হয়ে উঠবে বলে তিনি আশা প্রকাশ করেন।
পাহাড় থেকে সমুদ্র—পর্দায় উঠে এল অন্য থাইল্যান্ড
উৎসবে প্রদর্শিত সিনেমাগুলির মধ্যে ছিল ‘Low Season’, যেখানে হৃদয়ভাঙা এক তরুণী লিনের গল্পের সঙ্গে মিশে যায় আত্মার উপস্থিতি অনুভব করার রহস্যময় ক্ষমতা। শান্তির সন্ধানে উত্তর থাইল্যান্ডের চিয়াং মাইয়ের পাহাড়ি হোমস্টেতে আশ্রয় নেয় লিন। সেখানে তার দেখা হয় গল্পের খোঁজে থাকা হতাশ স্ক্রিনরাইটার পুডের সঙ্গে। কুয়াশায় ঢাকা পাহাড়, প্রকৃতি ও সম্পর্কের উষ্ণতার মধ্য দিয়ে এগিয়ে যায় তাদের গল্প।
‘Panyi… I Sea You’-তে দর্শক পরিচিত হন ব্যাংকক থেকে দূরের এক ঐতিহ্যবাহী থাই-মুসলিম মৎস্যজীবী সম্প্রদায়ের জীবনের সঙ্গে। শহুরে মানসিকতায় অভ্যস্ত এক তরুণ মেডিক্যাল ইন্টার্ন প্রথমে দ্বীপটিকে নিজের কাছে বন্দিশালা বলে মনে করলেও স্থানীয় মানুষের সঙ্গে সংঘাত, সম্পর্ক ও অভিজ্ঞতার মধ্য দিয়ে তার দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির পরিবর্তন ঘটে। চিকিৎসা, সম্প্রদায় ও ভালোবাসার নতুন অর্থ খুঁজে পায় সে।
‘Human Resource’ তুলে ধরে আধুনিক কর্পোরেট জীবনের বাস্তবতা। উচ্চাকাঙ্ক্ষী তরুণ-তরুণীদের কর্মজীবনের শুরু, অফিসের প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা, সম্পর্ক, শহুরে জীবনের চাপ এবং সাফল্যের দৌড়—সবকিছুর মধ্য দিয়ে ছবিটি প্রশ্ন তোলে, স্বপ্নপূরণের পথে একজন মানুষ কতটা এগোতে পারে এবং তার বিনিময়ে কী হারাতে পারে।
আর দর্শকদের বিশেষভাবে আকৃষ্ট করে ‘Gohan…Go Home’। এক দুরন্ত পথকুকুর গোহানকে ঘিরে তৈরি এই মানবিক গল্পে উঠে আসে থাইল্যান্ডের রাস্তার খাবারের বাজার, মৎস্যজীবী গ্রাম ও সমুদ্রসৈকতের ছবি। মানুষের সঙ্গে গোহানের সম্পর্কের মধ্য দিয়ে ছবিটি দেখায়—‘বাড়ি’ শুধু একটি জায়গার নাম নয়; ভালোবাসা ও আপন করে নেওয়া মানুষগুলিই শেষ পর্যন্ত একটি বাড়ি তৈরি করে।
সিনেমার পাশাপাশি পুরস্কারের আকর্ষণ
চলচ্চিত্র প্রদর্শনের পাশাপাশি উৎসবে দর্শকদের জন্য ছিল একাধিক আকর্ষণীয় পুরস্কার। সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় থাই ফিল্ম ফেস্টিভ্যালের সঙ্গে যুক্ত করে ছবি ও পোস্ট শেয়ার করা দর্শকদের মধ্য থেকে প্রতিদিন সেরা অংশগ্রহণকারীদের বেছে নেওয়া হয়।
পুরস্কার জেতার সুযোগ ঘিরে দর্শকদের মধ্যে ছিল যথেষ্ট উৎসাহ। ফলে সিনেমা দেখার পাশাপাশি উৎসবের সঙ্গে সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যমেও যুক্ত হন বহু দর্শক।
খাবার থেকে সিনেমা—এক ফ্রেমে ‘Amazing Thailand’
কলকাতায় আয়োজিত Thai Food Festival এবং Thai Film Festival—দুটি আয়োজনই দর্শকদের কাছে থাইল্যান্ডকে জানার দুটি ভিন্ন জানালা খুলে দেয়। একটি থাইল্যান্ডকে তুলে ধরে তার বিশ্বখ্যাত খাবারের স্বাদের মাধ্যমে, অন্যটি গল্প ও সিনেমার ভাষায় তুলে ধরে দেশটির প্রকৃতি, ইতিহাস, সংস্কৃতি এবং সমকালীন জীবনকে।
আয়োজকদের মতে, Amazing Thailand in Kolkata 2026 শুধুমাত্র একটি সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান নয়। এর মধ্য দিয়ে ভারত ও থাইল্যান্ডের দীর্ঘদিনের বন্ধুত্ব, মানুষের সঙ্গে মানুষের যোগাযোগ, পর্যটন, সাংস্কৃতিক বিনিময়, আতিথেয়তা এবং শিক্ষা ক্ষেত্রে সহযোগিতার সম্পর্ক আরও গভীর করার একটি সুযোগ তৈরি হচ্ছে।
কলকাতার দর্শকদের জন্য তিন দিনের এই চলচ্চিত্র উৎসব তাই শুধু সিনেমা দেখার আয়োজন হয়ে থাকেনি; বরং বড় পর্দার গল্পের মধ্য দিয়ে থাইল্যান্ডকে নতুন করে আবিষ্কারের এক সাংস্কৃতিক যাত্রায় পরিণত হয়েছে।
Thai Film Festival in Kolkata Offers a Cinematic Window Into Thailand’s Culture and Tourism

SPT NEWS, KOLKATA, Aug. 11, 2026: Thailand brought its landscapes, culture and contemporary stories to Kolkata through the second Thai Film Festival, held from Aug. 7 to 9 at Cinépolis, Acropolis Mall, offering audiences a free cinematic journey through the country.
Organised by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata as part of Amazing Thailand in Kolkata 2026, the three-day festival featured seven complimentary screenings under the theme “A Cinematic Journey Through Time & Scenery.”
The festival was inaugurated on Aug. 7 by Siriporn Tantipanyateip, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, who highlighted cinema as a way to deepen cultural understanding between Thailand and India.
“Many people from India travel to Thailand. We want them not only to visit Thailand but also to know and experience our culture,” she said at the inauguration. She encouraged audiences to watch Thai films and discover the country through its stories, saying such cultural exposure could add another dimension to the travel experience.
Stories of mountains, islands and modern life
The festival presented films spanning romance, human relationships, workplace struggles, community life and Thailand’s diverse landscapes.
“Low Season” follows Lin, a heartbroken woman who can see spirits, as she retreats to a secluded mountain homestay in Chiang Mai. There she meets Pud, a cynical screenwriter searching for inspiration. Set against the mist-covered mountains of northern Thailand, the film explores healing, hope and rediscovered love.
“Panyi… I Sea You” takes audiences to a remote traditional Thai-Muslim fishing community. A cynical medical intern from Bangkok initially sees the island as a temporary prison, but encounters with local residents gradually change his understanding of medicine, community and love.
“Human Resource” turns to the corporate world, following ambitious young professionals as they navigate workplace rivalries, relationships, career pressures and the demands of city life.
“Gohan…Go Home” offers a more playful and emotional journey through the eyes of a lovable stray dog. As Gohan moves through street-food markets, fishing villages and beaches, his encounters with ordinary people reveal a story about belonging, kindness and the meaning of home.
Social media adds another attraction
The festival also included daily prizes for visitors who shared photographs and posts related to the Thai Film Festival on social media. The initiative generated visible enthusiasm among audiences, adding an interactive element to the cultural programme.
The film festival formed part of a wider Amazing Thailand in Kolkata 2026 initiative, which also featured a Thai Food Festival.
While the food festival offered visitors a taste of Thailand through its cuisine, the film festival provided another perspective through stories, landscapes, history and contemporary life.
Together, the two events sought to strengthen people-to-people ties between Thailand and India while promoting tourism, cultural exchange, hospitality and educational cooperation.
For Kolkata audiences, the three-day festival offered more than free cinema. It provided a glimpse of Thailand beyond conventional tourism imagery—through its people, communities, emotions and everyday stories on screen.
