এসপিটি নিউজ, কলকাতা, ২৩ জুলাই: ট্রাভেল এজেন্টস ফেডারেশন অব ইন্ডিয়া (TAFI)-র বার্ষিক সাধারণ সভা (AGM) এদিন কলকাতায় পর্যটন শিল্পের ভবিষ্যৎ, সাইবার নিরাপত্তা এবং ট্রাভেল প্রোটেকশন—এই তিনটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয়কে কেন্দ্র করে এক কার্যকরী মঞ্চে পরিণত হয়। রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তের টাফি সদস্য, প্রায় সব বড় এয়ারলাইন সংস্থার প্রতিনিধি এবং সংবাদমাধ্যমের উপস্থিতিতে অনুষ্ঠিত এই সভায় উঠে আসে পর্যটন ব্যবসার বর্তমান চ্যালেঞ্জ ও সম্ভাবনার নানা দিক।
অনুষ্ঠানে টাফি’র পূর্ব ভারতের চেয়ারম্যান অনিল পাঞ্জাবি জানান, বর্তমানে সারা দেশে টাফি’র সদস্য সংখ্যা ১৫০০-রও বেশি। দীর্ঘদিন ধরেই সংগঠনটি ভারতের পর্যটন শিল্পের প্রসারে সক্রিয়ভাবে কাজ করে চলেছে। তিনি বলেন, টাফি’র সদস্যরা নির্ধারিত নীতি ও পেশাগত মানদণ্ড মেনে পর্যটন ব্যবসাকে আরও সুসংগঠিত ও গতিশীল করে তুলতে কাজ করছেন।
বাংলার পর্যটন সম্ভাবনা নিয়ে আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করে অনিল পাঞ্জাবি বলেন, নতুন সরকার দায়িত্ব নেওয়ার পর কয়েকটি উল্লেখযোগ্য পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করেছে, যা রাজ্যের পর্যটন শিল্পের উন্নয়নে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা নেবে। তাঁর কথায়, “বাংলায় পর্যটনের বিপুল সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে। সেই সম্ভাবনাকে বাস্তব সাফল্যে পরিণত করতে হবে। রাজ্যের পর্যটনমন্ত্রীও সেই লক্ষ্যকে সামনে রেখে কাজ করার কথা বলেছেন। আমরা আশাবাদী, বাংলার পর্যটন আগামী দিনে আরও শক্তিশালী অবস্থানে পৌঁছবে।”
এদিনের সভায় অন্যতম আকর্ষণ ছিল কলকাতা পুলিশের সাউথ ডিভিশনের সাইবার সেলের ওসি শুভঙ্কর চক্রবর্তী-র বিশেষ সচেতনতামূলক আলোচনা। তিনি সাইবার বুলিং, সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ার মাধ্যমে মানহানি, সেক্সটরশন, কল ফরওয়ার্ডিং স্ক্যাম এবং মেটাভার্স সংক্রান্ত ঝুঁকি নিয়ে বিস্তারিত তথ্য তুলে ধরেন। ট্রাভেল ব্যবসায়ীদের উদ্দেশে তিনি বলেন, ডিজিটাল প্ল্যাটফর্ম ব্যবহার করার ক্ষেত্রে তথ্য সুরক্ষা, অ্যাকাউন্ট নিরাপত্তা এবং গ্রাহকের ব্যক্তিগত তথ্য রক্ষায় সর্বোচ্চ সতর্কতা অবলম্বন করা জরুরি। তিনি ভুয়ো প্রোফাইল, প্রতারণামূলক ভিডিও কল এবং কল ফরওয়ার্ডিংয়ের মাধ্যমে হোয়াটসঅ্যাপ হ্যাকের মতো নতুন ধরনের অপরাধ সম্পর্কে উপস্থিত প্রতিনিধিদের সতর্ক করেন।
সাইবার প্রতারণার শিকার হলে কীভাবে দ্রুত পদক্ষেপ নিতে হবে, সেই সম্পর্কেও তিনি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নির্দেশিকা দেন। অনলাইন লেনদেন বন্ধ করা, ব্যাঙ্ক অ্যাকাউন্ট ফ্রিজ করানো, সন্দেহজনক অ্যাপ পরীক্ষা করা এবং জাতীয় সাইবার হেল্পলাইন ১৯৩০-এ যোগাযোগ করার পরামর্শ দেন তিনি।
একই সঙ্গে আন্তর্জাতিক ট্রাভেল প্রোটেকশন সংস্থা ASEGO-র পক্ষ থেকে সংস্থার ভাইস প্রেসিডেন্ট (পূর্ব) কুণাল চৌধুরী বিশেষ উপস্থাপনার মাধ্যমে আধুনিক ট্রাভেল বিমার নতুন দিকগুলি তুলে ধরেন। তিনি পরিস্থিতিভিত্তিক সুরক্ষা পরিকল্পনা, ভিসা রিফিউজাল কভার, অতিরিক্ত মেডিক্যাল কভার, বিজনেস ক্লাস আপগ্রেডেশন সুরক্ষা এবং আন্তর্জাতিক যাত্রীদের জন্য “Anywhere to Anywhere” বিমা সুবিধা সম্পর্কে বিস্তারিত ব্যাখ্যা করেন।
এছাড়া ASEGO Signature নামে উচ্চমূল্যের প্রিমিয়াম ট্রাভেল প্রোটেকশন এবং ASEGO Bolt নামে মূল্যসচেতন যাত্রীদের জন্য প্রযুক্তিনির্ভর প্যাকেজও উপস্থাপন করা হয়। কুণাল চৌধুরী বিশেষভাবে ট্রাভেল এজেন্সিগুলির জন্য আর্থিক ও আইনি ঝুঁকি মোকাবিলায় Business Risk Cover-এর প্রয়োজনীয়তার উপর জোর দেন এবং দাবি করেন, এটি ভারতীয় ট্রাভেল এজেন্সিগুলির জন্য প্রথম নিবেদিত ব্যবসায়িক সুরক্ষা কাভার।
অনুষ্ঠানের শেষে টাফি’র চেয়ারম্যান অনিল পাঞ্জাবি এবং সেক্রেটারি অভিজিৎ ধর কলকাতা পুলিশের সাউথ ডিভিশনের সাইবার সেলের ওসি শুভঙ্কর চক্রবর্তী এবং ASEGO-র ভাইস প্রেসিডেন্ট কুণাল চৌধুরিকে বিশেষ স্মারক তুলে দিয়ে সম্মানিত করেন। পাশাপাশি এয়ারএশিয়া-র সিনিয়র এক্সিকিউটিভ (সেলস অ্যান্ড ডিস্ট্রিবিউশন) অপূর্ব সান্যাল কলকাতা পুলিশের সাউথ ডিভিশনের সাইবার সেলের ওসি ও তাঁর সহকারীকে বিশেষভাবে সম্মান জানান।
পুলিশ, বিমা সংস্থা এবং ট্রাভেল শিল্পের প্রতিনিধিদের এই যৌথ আলোচনাকে উপস্থিত সদস্যরা অত্যন্ত ফলপ্রসূ বলে মনে করেন। সভায় অংশ নেওয়া সদস্যরা জানান, সাইবার নিরাপত্তা এবং ট্রাভেল প্রোটেকশন—দুই ক্ষেত্র থেকেই তাঁরা বহু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পরামর্শ ও ব্যবহারিক তথ্য সংগ্রহ করেছেন, যা ভবিষ্যতে নিজেদের কর্মক্ষেত্রে কার্যকরভাবে কাজে লাগাতে পারবেন। টাফি’র এই উদ্যোগ ট্রাভেল ব্যবসাকে আরও নিরাপদ, পেশাদার এবং ভবিষ্যতমুখী করে তুলতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা নেবে বলেই মনে করছে পর্যটন মহল।

India’s TAFI highlights tourism growth, cyber security and travel risk protection at Kolkata AGM

SPT News, Kolkata: India’s tourism industry is entering a new phase of growth, supported by stronger digital safeguards and evolving travel protection solutions, industry leaders said on Wednesday at the annual general meeting of the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) in Kolkata.
The event brought together travel trade members from across eastern India, representatives of major airlines, insurance companies and media organisations, with discussions focusing on tourism expansion, cybercrime prevention and business risk management.
TAFI East India Chairman Anil Punjabi said the federation currently has more than 1,500 members nationwide and continues to work for the expansion of India’s tourism sector through industry-wide coordination and adherence to professional standards.
“TAFI members are committed to promoting tourism in a structured and ethical manner, and we believe the industry has significant growth potential in the coming years,” Punjabi said.
He also expressed optimism about the tourism prospects of West Bengal, saying the state’s new government had taken several “notable initiatives” that could help accelerate tourism development.
“West Bengal has immense tourism potential, and the government has indicated that this potential must be converted into measurable success. We are hopeful that the state will achieve that goal,” he added.
One of the key sessions was led by Shubhankar Chakraborty, officer-in-charge of the Cyber Cell of Kolkata Police’s South Division, who warned travel businesses about the rising threat of cybercrime.
His presentation covered cyberbullying, social media defamation, sextortion, call-forwarding scams and risks associated with emerging digital platforms such as the metaverse. He urged travel agents to strengthen account security, protect customer data and remain alert to fraudulent online activities.
Chakraborty advised businesses and individuals to report suspicious social media profiles, avoid sharing sensitive information with unknown contacts and immediately contact India’s national cybercrime helpline 1930 if they become victims of fraud.
The meeting also featured a detailed presentation by Kunal Chowdhury, Vice President (East) of international travel protection company ASEGO.
Chowdhury outlined a range of travel protection products, including trip cancellation cover, visa refusal cost protection, additional medical coverage and business-class upgrade protection on medical grounds.
ASEGO also presented its “Anywhere to Anywhere” insurance solution, designed for international travellers departing from and arriving in any country, and highlighted a dedicated Business Risk Cover aimed at protecting travel agencies against financial and legal liabilities.
Industry participants said the growing complexity of international travel, including visa uncertainties, flight disruptions and medical emergencies abroad, has increased demand for specialised travel protection products.
At the conclusion of the event, TAFI Chairman Anil Punjabi and Secretary Abhijit Dhar presented commemorative mementos to Shubhankar Chakraborty and Kunal Chowdhury in recognition of their contributions.
In a separate gesture, AirAsia Senior Executive (Sales & Distribution) Apurba Sanyal honoured officials of the Kolkata Police South Division Cyber Cell for their awareness efforts.
Participants described the combined discussions by police officials, insurance experts and travel industry representatives as highly practical, saying they were returning to their workplaces with actionable guidance on both cyber security and travel risk management.
The meeting underscored the travel industry’s increasing focus on digital safety, customer protection and operational resilience as international travel continues to recover and expand.
