SPT News, Kolkata, November 3, 2026: The West Bengal Chapter of the Live Tourism Women Cell (LTWC) was officially inaugurated in Kolkata on Tuesday, bringing together women professionals from across the tourism and hospitality industry on a common platform. The launch ceremony was held at Hotel Celesta in a joyful and dignified gathering attended by prominent industry representatives and around 30 women members.

The programme was graced by Mr. Pranab Prakash, Regional Director, India Tourism, as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Sanjeev Debchowdhury, Assistant Director, India Tourism, attended as a special guest. Several prominent representatives of tourism associations were also present, including Mr. Kaushik Banerjee of ETAA, Mr. Amitava Sarkar of TAAB, Capt. (Mrs.) Bibha Samaddar of the Indian Army and Mr. Anjani Dhanuka of TAAI. Mr. Debajit Dutta of IATO and Mr. Rajesh Saraf of ADTOI extended their warm wishes and congratulations through special video messages.

Following its successful launch in Varanasi, Kolkata has become the second chapter of LTWC. The initiative aims to bring women from every segment of the tourism and hospitality industry under one common platform. These include tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers, homestay owners, tourist guides and other tourism professionals.

According to the organisation, LTWC aims to create opportunities for networking, knowledge-sharing, professional development, leadership building and mutual support. It also seeks to promote equal opportunities for women and strengthen their participation across the tourism sector.

The organisation has clarified that LTWC does not intend to replace existing tourism associations. Instead, it aims to connect women belonging to different associations and professional backgrounds, creating stronger professional relationships and greater cooperation within the tourism fraternity.

Looking ahead, LTWC plans to expand its presence across India through training programmes, professional development initiatives, knowledge-sharing activities and new opportunities for women in tourism. Its broader vision is to build a stronger, more connected and empowered community of women professionals in the tourism and hospitality industry.

The launch of the West Bengal Chapter marks a significant step towards recognising and strengthening the role of women in the state’s tourism sector. With women’s participation becoming increasingly important in travel services, hospitality, hotels, homestays and tourism entrepreneurship, such a common platform could help unlock new opportunities for professional growth and collaboration.
