ভারতীয় পর্যটকদের উদ্দেশে শেষ বার্তায় কনসাল-জেনারেল বলেন, থাইল্যান্ড সবসময় ভারতীয় অতিথিদের আন্তরিকভাবে স্বাগত জানায়।

তিনি বলেন, “ভারতীয় বন্ধুরা যখন থাইল্যান্ডে আসেন, আমরা তাঁদের শুধু পর্যটক হিসেবে দেখি না। আমরা তাঁদের আমাদের দীর্ঘদিনের বন্ধু হিসেবে দেখি। আমাদের ইতিহাস, সংস্কৃতি এবং মূল্যবোধের মধ্যে অনেক মিল রয়েছে। সেই সম্পর্ক ভবিষ্যতেও আরও গভীর হবে বলেই আমরা বিশ্বাস করি।”
শুধু জনপ্রিয় শহর নয়, নতুন থাইল্যান্ডকে আবিষ্কারের আহ্বান

Thailand sees tourism as a strategic bridge for deeper people-to-people ties, stronger partnerships with Eastern India and long-term bilateral cooperation

KOLKATA, India, July 14 (SPT News) — Tourism is far more than an economic activity; it is one of the most effective ways to build mutual understanding, friendship and trust between nations, Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata, said in the concluding part of an exclusive interview with Sangbad Prabhakar Times during Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) Kolkata 2026.
Reflecting on the future of India–Thailand relations, the Consul-General said the enduring strength of the bilateral partnership lies in people-to-people connectivity, with tourism serving as a strategic platform for bringing communities closer together while encouraging broader cooperation in culture, business, education and investment.
TTF Is More Than a Travel Exhibition
Assessing the significance of TTF Kolkata, the Consul-General said international travel fairs are no longer simply venues for promoting holiday packages or tourism products.
Instead, she described them as global platforms where national tourism boards, government representatives, tour operators, travel agencies, airlines and tourism stakeholders can engage directly, exchange ideas and establish long-term partnerships.
She said such exhibitions help create new business opportunities while enabling countries to shape future tourism strategies through stronger international collaboration.
The Consul-General added that Kolkata’s historic role as a centre of commerce, culture and international engagement makes it an especially appropriate venue for hosting one of India’s leading travel trade events.
Thailand’s Doors Remain Open to Indian Visitors
Delivering her concluding message to Indian travellers, the Consul-General reaffirmed Thailand’s warm welcome to visitors from India.
She noted that Indian tourists are important not only because of their growing numbers but also because of the centuries-old historical, religious and cultural ties linking the two countries.
“When our Indian friends visit Thailand, we do not see them merely as tourists. We consider them our long-standing friends. Our countries share many common values, traditions and cultural connections, and we believe this relationship will continue to grow even stronger in the years ahead.”
According to her, those deep-rooted historical and cultural links often make travel to Thailand a meaningful and personal experience for Indian visitors.
Looking Beyond Thailand’s Iconic Destinations
The Consul-General also encouraged Indian travellers to move beyond Thailand’s best-known destinations.
While acknowledging that first-time visitors naturally choose places such as Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket, she suggested that repeat visitors should explore the country’s lesser-known regions.
Northern Thailand’s mountain landscapes, historic towns, rural communities, nature-based destinations, archaeological sites, regional festivals and local cultural traditions offer travellers an entirely different perspective of the country, she said.
According to the Consul-General, the future of global tourism will increasingly be defined by the principle of “Less Visited, More Experienced”—encouraging visitors to discover destinations that are less crowded but offer deeper and more authentic experiences.
Expanding Cooperation with Eastern India
Looking ahead, the Consul-General expressed confidence that Thailand’s engagement with West Bengal and Eastern India would continue to expand.
She said tourism cooperation is expected to be accompanied by stronger collaboration in education, business, investment, cultural exchange and broader people-to-people interaction.
Thailand also plans to deepen engagement with the Indian travel trade through joint promotional campaigns, new business initiatives, tourism exchange programmes and cultural events designed to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Returning to Thailand’s globally recognised identity as the “Land of Smiles,” the Consul-General said the phrase represents far more than a marketing slogan.
Instead, she described it as a reflection of the values that define Thai society—warmth, courtesy, respect and genuine hospitality.
She expressed confidence that Indian travellers would continue to experience that same spirit of welcome and would be encouraged to return to Thailand again and again.
Tourism as a Strategic Bridge Between Two Nations
Summarising Thailand’s broader vision, the Consul-General suggested that the country is promoting tourism not merely to attract more international visitors but also as a strategic instrument for strengthening its multifaceted relationship with India.
Centuries of shared history, Buddhist heritage, cultural exchange, expanding business cooperation, growing air connectivity and close people-to-people ties are together opening a new chapter in India–Thailand relations, she said.
Her remarks at TTF Kolkata 2026 underscored Thailand’s view that India—particularly West Bengal and Eastern India—will remain one of the country’s most important strategic tourism partners in the years ahead.
