এসপিটি নিউজ, শিলিগুড়ি, ১৬ অক্টোবর: দার্জিলিংয়ের পাহাড়, চা-বাগান, প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্য, ঐতিহ্য এবং অচেনা পর্যটনস্থলকে দেশ-বিদেশের ভ্রমণপিপাসু মানুষের কাছে আরও সহজে পৌঁছে দিতে চালু হল ‘ডিসকভার দার্জিলিং’ পর্যটন অ্যাপ। শুক্রবার শিলিগুড়ির স্টেট গেস্ট হাউসে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের পর্যটনমন্ত্রী ড. শঙ্কর ঘোষ এই অ্যাপের উদ্বোধন করেন। দার্জিলিংয়ের পর্যটনকে আধুনিক প্রযুক্তির সঙ্গে যুক্ত করে পর্যটকদের ভ্রমণ পরিকল্পনা সহজ করা এবং জেলার বিভিন্ন প্রান্তে পর্যটনের সম্ভাবনাকে ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে এই উদ্যোগ বিশেষ গুরুত্ব বহন করছে।
উদ্বোধনের পর পর্যটনমন্ত্রী নিজেই সামাজিক মাধ্যমে একটি বার্তায় এই উদ্যোগের কথা জানান। তাঁর বক্তব্য অনুযায়ী, দার্জিলিংয়ের প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্য, ঐতিহ্য এবং পর্যটন কেন্দ্রগুলিকে মানুষের কাছে আরও সহজে পৌঁছে দেওয়ার জন্য এই অ্যাপ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করবে। এর সাহায্যে পর্যটকেরা বিভিন্ন পর্যটন পথ ও ভ্রমণ পরিকল্পনা সম্পর্কে তথ্য সংগ্রহ করতে পারবেন। ফলে কোথায় যাবেন, কী দেখবেন এবং কীভাবে ভ্রমণসূচি সাজাবেন, তা ঠিক করা আরও সহজ হবে।
এই উদ্যোগের বিশেষত্ব হল, দার্জিলিংয়ের পর্যটনকে শুধু কয়েকটি পরিচিত দর্শনীয় স্থানের মধ্যে সীমাবদ্ধ না রেখে জেলার বিভিন্ন প্রান্তের বৈচিত্র্যময় আকর্ষণকে একসঙ্গে তুলে ধরার চেষ্টা। পাহাড়ের পরিচিত সৌন্দর্যের পাশাপাশি ঐতিহ্য, চা-সংস্কৃতি, প্রকৃতি, বন্যপ্রাণ, দুঃসাহসিক ভ্রমণ, স্থানীয় খাদ্যসংস্কৃতি এবং পরিবেশবান্ধব পর্যটনের মতো বিভিন্ন বিষয়কে পৃথক পর্যটন পথের মাধ্যমে সাজানো হয়েছে। ফলে পর্যটকেরা নিজেদের পছন্দ, সময় এবং আগ্রহ অনুযায়ী ভ্রমণের পরিকল্পনা করতে পারবেন।
দার্জিলিংয়ের পর্যটনের ক্ষেত্রে এই ধরনের উদ্যোগের গুরুত্ব যথেষ্ট। এত দিন বহু পর্যটক মূলত দার্জিলিং শহর, টাইগার হিল, বাতাসিয়া লুপ কিংবা পরিচিত কয়েকটি দর্শনীয় স্থান ঘুরেই ফিরে আসতেন। অথচ জেলার বিভিন্ন এলাকায় ছড়িয়ে রয়েছে বহু ঐতিহাসিক স্থান, চা-বাগান, প্রাকৃতিক সম্পদ, স্থানীয় সংস্কৃতি এবং অপেক্ষাকৃত কম পরিচিত পর্যটন আকর্ষণ। সঠিক তথ্যের অভাব এবং ভ্রমণ পরিকল্পনা সম্পর্কে স্পষ্ট ধারণা না থাকায় অনেক পর্যটক এই স্থানগুলির খোঁজ পান না। নতুন অ্যাপের মাধ্যমে এই ব্যবধান কমানোর সুযোগ তৈরি হতে পারে।
অ্যাপটির মাধ্যমে বিভিন্ন পর্যটনস্থলের পরিচিতি ও ইতিহাসের পাশাপাশি সেখানে যাওয়ার সময়, প্রবেশমূল্য, গাড়ি রাখার জায়গা, শৌচাগার এবং যাতায়াতের সুবিধা সম্পর্কিত প্রয়োজনীয় তথ্য পাওয়ার ব্যবস্থা রয়েছে। মানচিত্রের সাহায্যে পর্যটকেরা নিজেদের অবস্থান ও গন্তব্য বুঝতে পারবেন। পাশাপাশি নির্দিষ্ট পর্যটন পথের তথ্য আগে থেকে সংগ্রহ করে ইন্টারনেট সংযোগ না থাকলেও তা ব্যবহার করার সুবিধা রয়েছে। এই ব্যবস্থাগুলি পাহাড়ি এলাকায় ভ্রমণের সময় পর্যটকদের বিশেষভাবে সাহায্য করতে পারে।
এই উদ্যোগের সুফল শুধু পর্যটকদের মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ থাকবে না। হোটেল, অতিথিশালা, গৃহনির্ভর পর্যটন আবাস, গাড়ির চালক, স্থানীয় পথপ্রদর্শক, ক্ষুদ্র ব্যবসায়ী, হস্তশিল্পী এবং পর্যটন পরিষেবার সঙ্গে যুক্ত অন্যান্য অংশীদারদের কাছেও এর ইতিবাচক প্রভাব পৌঁছনোর সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে। পর্যটকেরা যদি পরিচিত গন্তব্যের বাইরে অন্যান্য এলাকায় যাওয়ার আগ্রহ দেখান, তবে সেখানকার স্থানীয় অর্থনীতি ও কর্মসংস্থানের সুযোগও বাড়তে পারে। তবে এই সুফল কতটা বাস্তবে পৌঁছবে, তা নির্ভর করবে অ্যাপে স্থানীয় পরিষেবার তথ্যের পরিধি, তথ্যের নিয়মিত হালনাগাদ এবং পর্যটকদের মধ্যে এর প্রচারের উপর।
পশ্চিমবঙ্গের পর্যটনের ইতিহাসে এই উদ্যোগকে জেলার পর্যটন তথ্যকে একত্রিত করে প্রযুক্তিনির্ভর ভ্রমণ পরিকল্পনার দিকে একটি উল্লেখযোগ্য পদক্ষেপ হিসেবে দেখা যেতে পারে। রাজ্যে এর আগেও পর্যটন সংক্রান্ত বিভিন্ন তথ্যপ্রযুক্তিভিত্তিক পরিষেবা চালু হয়েছে। তবে দার্জিলিং জেলার বিভিন্ন পর্যটন আকর্ষণকে বিষয়ভিত্তিক ভ্রমণপথে সাজিয়ে পর্যটকদের হাতে তুলে দেওয়ার এই উদ্যোগের বিশেষত্ব রয়েছে। এর সাফল্য ভবিষ্যতে রাজ্যের অন্যান্য পর্যটনসমৃদ্ধ জেলাতেও একই ধরনের ব্যবস্থা গড়ে তোলার পথ দেখাতে পারে।
দার্জিলিংয়ের পর্যটনকে আরও উন্নত, সহজলভ্য এবং পর্যটকবান্ধব করে তোলার ক্ষেত্রে এই উদ্যোগ নতুন সম্ভাবনা তৈরি করেছে। তবে পর্যটনের প্রকৃত উন্নয়নের জন্য শুধু প্রযুক্তি নয়, উন্নত যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা, পরিচ্ছন্নতা, নিরাপত্তা, পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণ, প্রশিক্ষিত পথপ্রদর্শক এবং স্থানীয় মানুষের সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণও জরুরি। নতুন অ্যাপের সঙ্গে এই বিষয়গুলির সমন্বয় ঘটানো গেলে দার্জিলিংয়ের পর্যটন আরও সুসংগঠিত হতে পারে এবং জেলার কম পরিচিত গন্তব্যগুলিও বৃহত্তর পর্যটন মানচিত্রে জায়গা করে নিতে পারে।
প্রযুক্তির সহায়তায় পর্যটকের হাতে সঠিক তথ্য পৌঁছে দেওয়া এবং পর্যটনের সুফল জেলার বিভিন্ন প্রান্তে ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার যে সম্ভাবনা এই উদ্যোগ তৈরি করেছে, এখন তার সফল বাস্তবায়নের দিকেই নজর থাকবে পর্যটন শিল্পের সঙ্গে যুক্ত সকলের।

Discover Darjeeling App Launched to Give West Bengal Tourism a Digital Boost

SPT News | Siliguri, October 16: Darjeeling’s natural beauty, rich heritage and diverse tourist attractions are set to reach a wider audience with the launch of the ‘Discover Darjeeling’ tourism app. West Bengal Tourism Minister Dr Shankar Ghosh inaugurated the app at the State Guest House in Siliguri on Friday, marking a significant step towards making tourism information more accessible and travel planning more convenient.
Following the launch, the minister shared a post on social media highlighting the initiative. He said the app would help visitors explore Darjeeling’s natural attractions, cultural heritage and tourist destinations more easily. It will also enable travellers to access information about different tourism circuits and plan their journeys more efficiently.
The initiative represents an important development in Darjeeling’s tourism landscape, bringing tourism information and technology closer to travellers. Rather than limiting visitors to a handful of well-known destinations, the initiative offers an opportunity to showcase the wider diversity of the district, including its scenic landscapes, tea gardens, cultural heritage and lesser-known attractions.
Darjeeling has long been one of West Bengal’s most popular tourism destinations. However, many visitors tend to concentrate on familiar attractions such as Darjeeling town, Tiger Hill and Batasia Loop, often missing the region’s wider tourism potential. Easier access to destination information and organised travel routes could encourage tourists to explore more areas and discover experiences beyond the conventional sightseeing circuit.
The app is expected to make trip planning easier by helping visitors explore tourism circuits and gather relevant destination information. Its usefulness will ultimately depend on the range, accuracy and regular updating of the information available to users, as well as the extent to which travellers and tourism businesses adopt the platform.
The benefits could extend beyond tourists to the wider tourism economy. Hotels, homestays, local transport operators, tour guides, small businesses, handicraft producers and other tourism service providers could gain from increased visitor interest in destinations beyond the established tourist centres. If effectively implemented and widely promoted, the initiative could help distribute tourism activity more evenly across the district, creating opportunities for local businesses and employment.
From a broader perspective, Discover Darjeeling could serve as a significant example of how digital technology can support destination promotion and improve the visitor experience in West Bengal.
