এই অংশীদারত্বের মূল লক্ষ্য পর্যটন শিল্পের সঙ্গে যুক্ত বিভিন্ন স্তরে সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি, অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক পর্যটনচর্চাকে উৎসাহিত করা এবং প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদের মর্যাদা, স্বাধীনতা ও সমান সুযোগের সঙ্গে ভ্রমণ ও পর্যটনে অংশগ্রহণের পথ আরও সুগম করা।
কলকাতার হোটেল পার্ক প্রাইমে অনুষ্ঠিত হয় সমঝোতা স্মারক স্বাক্ষর অনুষ্ঠান। অনুষ্ঠানটির আয়োজনে স্থান সহযোগী হিসেবে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা নেয় হোটেল কর্তৃপক্ষ। এই শিল্পভিত্তিক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উদ্যোগে সহযোগিতার জন্য এন্টারপ্রাইজিং ট্রাভেল এজেন্টস অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের পক্ষ থেকে হোটেল কর্তৃপক্ষের প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞতা জানানো হয়।
সমঝোতা স্মারকে স্বাক্ষরের পাশাপাশি এই অঙ্গীকারকে বাস্তব কর্মসূচির মাধ্যমে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়ার উদ্যোগও নেওয়া হয়েছে। বিশ্ব পর্যটন দিবস উপলক্ষে ২৭ সেপ্টেম্বর এন্টারপ্রাইজিং ট্রাভেল এজেন্টস অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের পূর্বাঞ্চলীয় শাখা এবং ফাউন্ডেশন টু সামিটের যৌথ উদ্যোগে কলকাতায় আয়োজিত হয় ব্রিটিশ ঐতিহ্য পদযাত্রা।
এই পদযাত্রায় পর্যটন শিল্পের সঙ্গে যুক্ত সদস্যদের পাশাপাশি প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদের অংশগ্রহণের সুযোগ তৈরি করা হয়। কলকাতার সমৃদ্ধ ঐতিহ্য ও ইতিহাসকে সামনে রেখে আয়োজিত এই কর্মসূচিতে পর্যটন পেশাজীবী এবং প্রতিবন্ধী অংশগ্রহণকারীরা একসঙ্গে শহরের ঐতিহ্য অনুভব করেন।
ভারত সরকারের পর্যটন মন্ত্রকের পূর্বাঞ্চলীয় কার্যালয়, কলকাতার সহযোগিতায় আয়োজিত এই কর্মসূচি শুধুমাত্র একটি ঐতিহ্যভিত্তিক ভ্রমণ ছিল না। এর মধ্য দিয়ে পর্যটনে সহজপ্রবেশ, অন্তর্ভুক্তি এবং সকলের সমান অংশগ্রহণের প্রয়োজনীয়তাকেও সামনে আনা হয়।
আয়োজকদের বক্তব্য অনুযায়ী, পর্যটনক্ষেত্রে প্রকৃত অন্তর্ভুক্তি তখনই সম্ভব, যখন গন্তব্য, পরিকাঠামো এবং পরিষেবার পরিকল্পনায় সব ধরনের ভ্রমণকারীর প্রয়োজনকে গুরুত্ব দেওয়া হবে। প্রতিবন্ধকতা দূর করে এমন একটি পর্যটন পরিবেশ গড়ে তোলাই এই উদ্যোগের অন্যতম লক্ষ্য।
এই দুটি উদ্যোগের মধ্য দিয়ে সকলের জন্য পর্যটনের লক্ষ্যে আরও এক ধাপ এগোল এন্টারপ্রাইজিং ট্রাভেল এজেন্টস অ্যাসোসিয়েশন। এমন এক পর্যটনব্যবস্থা গড়ে তোলার বার্তাই উঠে এসেছে, যেখানে প্রতিবন্ধকতা কমবে, সুযোগ হবে আরও সমান এবং প্রত্যেক ভ্রমণকারী নিজেকে পর্যটনজগতের সমান অংশীদার হিসেবে অনুভব করতে পারবেন।

ETAA and Foundation to Summit Join Hands to Promote Accessible and Barrier-Free Tourism
MoU aims to advance inclusion, accessibility and equal participation in travel
SPT NEWS, KOLKATA, Sept. 28, 2026: The Enterprising Travel Agents Association and Foundation to Summit have joined hands to promote accessible and barrier-free tourism, seeking to encourage a more inclusive travel ecosystem where persons with disabilities can participate with dignity, independence and equal opportunity.
The two organisations formalised their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at creating greater awareness across the tourism industry, encouraging inclusive tourism practices and promoting measures that can make travel and tourism more accessible to persons with disabilities.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at Hotel Park Prime in Kolkata, which supported the initiative as the venue partner. ETAA expressed its appreciation to the hotel management for extending support to the industry initiative.
Taking the partnership forward through an on-ground programme, ETAA East, in association with Foundation to Summit, organised a British Heritage Walk in Kolkata on Sept. 27 to mark World Tourism Day.
The walk brought together ETAA members and participants from the persons with disabilities segment, providing tourism professionals and participants with disabilities an opportunity to experience Kolkata’s heritage together.
Supported by the Ministry of Tourism’s Eastern Regional Office in Kolkata, the initiative sought to place accessibility and inclusion at the centre of the tourism experience.
The heritage walk was more than a cultural and historical experience. It highlighted the need for destinations and tourism services to become more accessible, inclusive and welcoming to travellers with different needs.
The partnership reflects ETAA’s stated vision of “Tourism for All” and its effort to encourage a tourism ecosystem in which barriers are reduced, opportunities are shared and travellers can participate more equally.
The initiatives also underline the growing importance of accessibility as an integral part of responsible and inclusive tourism development.
