এসপিটি নিউজ, নয়াদিল্লি, ৪ আগস্ট: থাইল্যান্ডের জনপ্রিয় পর্যটনকেন্দ্র ফুকেট থেকে দিল্লিগামী এয়ার ইন্ডিয়ার AI2379 ফ্লাইট মাঝআকাশে প্রবল টার্বুলেন্সের মুখে পড়ে। আকস্মিক ও তীব্র বায়ুচাঞ্চল্যের জেরে বিমানের ভেতরে ব্যাপক ঝাঁকুনি অনুভূত হয়। এতে একাধিক যাত্রী এবং কেবিন ক্রু আহত হন। তবে পাইলটের দক্ষতায় বিমানটি শেষ পর্যন্ত নিরাপদেই দিল্লির ইন্দিরা গান্ধী আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দরে অবতরণ করে।
এয়ার ইন্ডিয়ার পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে, ফ্লাইটটি নির্ধারিত ক্রুজিং উচ্চতায় উড়ছিল। সেই সময় হঠাৎ প্রবল টার্বুলেন্সের কবলে পড়ে বিমানটি মুহূর্তের মধ্যে প্রায় ৩০০ ফুট উচ্চতা হারায়। আকস্মিক এই পতনের ফলে কেবিনের ভেতরে প্রবল ধাক্কা লাগে। অনেকের হাতে থাকা সামগ্রী ছিটকে পড়ে এবং সিটবেল্ট না বাঁধা কয়েকজন যাত্রী আসন থেকে উঠে গিয়ে আঘাত পান। কয়েকজন কেবিন ক্রুও দায়িত্ব পালনের সময় আহত হন।
বিমানটি দিল্লিতে অবতরণের পর বিমানবন্দরে আগে থেকেই চিকিৎসক ও জরুরি পরিষেবার দল প্রস্তুত ছিল। আহত যাত্রীদের প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসা দেওয়া হয়। পরে শারীরিক অবস্থার মূল্যায়নের জন্য কয়েকজন যাত্রী এবং চারজন কেবিন ক্রুকে হাসপাতালে পাঠানো হয়। চিকিৎসকদের প্রাথমিক পর্যবেক্ষণে অধিকাংশের আঘাত গুরুতর নয় বলেই জানা গেছে।
এয়ার ইন্ডিয়া এক বিবৃতিতে জানিয়েছে, যাত্রী ও কর্মীদের নিরাপত্তাই সংস্থার সর্বোচ্চ অগ্রাধিকার। ঘটনার পূর্ণাঙ্গ তদন্ত শুরু হয়েছে এবং কী কারণে এত তীব্র টার্বুলেন্সের সৃষ্টি হয়েছিল, তা খতিয়ে দেখা হচ্ছে। পাশাপাশি আহত যাত্রী ও কেবিন ক্রুদের প্রয়োজনীয় চিকিৎসা ও অন্যান্য সহায়তা দেওয়া হচ্ছে বলেও জানিয়েছে বিমান সংস্থা।
বিমান চলাচল বিশেষজ্ঞদের মতে, আধুনিক আবহাওয়া পূর্বাভাস ব্যবস্থার উন্নতি হলেও ‘ক্লিয়ার এয়ার টার্বুলেন্স’ (Clear Air Turbulence) অনেক সময় কোনও পূর্বাভাস ছাড়াই সৃষ্টি হয়। বিশেষ করে উচ্চ উচ্চতায় উড়ানের সময় এই ধরনের টার্বুলেন্স পাইলটদের কাছেও হঠাৎ করে ধরা পড়তে পারে। জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের প্রভাবে বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন আকাশপথে এ ধরনের তীব্র টার্বুলেন্সের ঘটনা সাম্প্রতিক বছরগুলোতে বাড়ছে বলেও বিশেষজ্ঞদের একাংশের মত।
বিমান নিরাপত্তা বিশেষজ্ঞরা মনে করিয়ে দিয়েছেন, সিটবেল্ট নির্দেশক আলো নিভে গেলেও যাত্রীদের আসনে বসে থাকাকালীন সিটবেল্ট আলগাভাবে বাঁধা রাখা উচিত। কারণ, হঠাৎ টার্বুলেন্সের সময় অধিকাংশ আঘাতের ঘটনাই ঘটে সিটবেল্ট না বাঁধার কারণে।
উল্লেখ্য, গত কয়েক বছরে বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন আন্তর্জাতিক রুটে টার্বুলেন্সজনিত একাধিক ঘটনা সামনে এসেছে। ফলে যাত্রী নিরাপত্তা নিয়ে বিমান সংস্থাগুলি নতুন করে সতর্কতামূলক ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করছে। এয়ার ইন্ডিয়ার এই ঘটনাও সেই উদ্বেগকে আরও একবার সামনে নিয়ে এল। যদিও বড় ধরনের দুর্ঘটনা এড়িয়ে বিমানটির নিরাপদ অবতরণ স্বস্তি দিয়েছে যাত্রীদের পরিবার এবং বিমান চলাচল মহলকে।

Air India Flight Hits Severe Turbulence, Several Passengers and Cabin Crew Injured
SPT NEWS, NEW DELHI, Aug. 4 — Several passengers and cabin crew members were injured after an Air India flight from Phuket to New Delhi encountered severe turbulence mid-air before landing safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport, the airline said on Tuesday.
Air India flight AI2379, operating from Phuket, Thailand, to India’s capital, experienced sudden and intense turbulence while cruising, causing the aircraft to briefly lose approximately 300 feet in altitude, according to airline officials.
The unexpected turbulence threw passengers and crew inside the cabin, injuring several people, particularly those who were not wearing seat belts. Medical teams were deployed immediately after the aircraft landed in New Delhi to provide first aid to the injured.
The airline said a number of passengers and four cabin crew members were later taken to a hospital for further medical evaluation. Most injuries were reported to be minor, and no fatalities or life-threatening injuries were reported.
In a statement, Air India said the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew remain its highest priority. The airline added that it is investigating the incident while providing all necessary assistance to those affected.
Aviation experts say severe turbulence can occur without warning, particularly in cases of clear-air turbulence, which is often invisible to weather radar. Such incidents have drawn increasing attention in recent years as researchers link stronger atmospheric instability to climate change.
Safety authorities and airlines continue to advise passengers to keep their seat belts fastened whenever seated throughout a flight, even when the seat belt sign is switched off, to reduce the risk of injury during unexpected turbulence.
The aircraft landed safely, and normal post-flight procedures were carried out after emergency medical personnel attended to the injured passengers and crew.
