এসপিটি নিউজ, নয়াদিল্লি, ৩ আগস্ট: ভারতীয় শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য যুক্তরাজ্য সরকারের মর্যাদাপূর্ণ চেভেনিং (Chevening) স্কলারশিপ কর্মসূচির আবেদন আগামী ৪ আগস্ট থেকে শুরু হচ্ছে। সম্পূর্ণ অর্থায়িত এই বৃত্তির জন্য আবেদন গ্রহণ চলবে ৬ অক্টোবর ২০২৬ পর্যন্ত।
চেভেনিং স্কলারশিপের আওতায় নির্বাচিত প্রার্থীরা যুক্তরাজ্যের যে কোনও স্বীকৃত বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে এক বছরের মাস্টার্স ডিগ্রি অর্জনের সুযোগ পাবেন। বৃত্তির আওতায় টিউশন ফি, জীবনযাত্রার ব্যয়, ভ্রমণ খরচসহ প্রয়োজনীয় অন্যান্য আর্থিক সহায়তা প্রদান করা হবে।
ভারতের নাগরিক, যাঁরা স্নাতক ডিগ্রি সম্পন্ন করার পর অন্তত দুই বছরের কর্ম-অভিজ্ঞতা অর্জন করেছেন, তাঁরা এই বৃত্তির জন্য আবেদন করতে পারবেন।
যুক্তরাজ্য সরকার জানিয়েছে, ১৯৮৩ সালে ভারতে চেভেনিং কর্মসূচি চালু হওয়ার পর থেকে প্রায় ৪,০০০ জন ভারতীয় এই স্কলারশিপ পেয়েছেন। অংশগ্রহণকারীরা যুক্তরাজ্যে উচ্চশিক্ষা গ্রহণের পাশাপাশি আন্তর্জাতিক নেটওয়ার্ক গড়ে তোলার সুযোগ পান এবং দেশে ফিরে প্রশাসন, শিক্ষা, বিজ্ঞান, ব্যবসা ও সমাজ উন্নয়নের বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে নেতৃত্ব দিচ্ছেন।
ভারতে ভারপ্রাপ্ত ব্রিটিশ হাইকমিশনার বেন মেলর এক বিবৃতিতে বলেন, শিক্ষা UK–India Vision 2035-এর অন্যতম প্রধান ভিত্তি এবং চেভেনিং সেই সহযোগিতার প্রধান কর্মসূচি। তাঁর মতে, ভারতের মেধাবী ও সম্ভাবনাময় তরুণ-তরুণীদের জন্য যুক্তরাজ্যে উচ্চশিক্ষার পাশাপাশি একটি বৈশ্বিক নেতৃত্বের নেটওয়ার্কে যুক্ত হওয়ার সুযোগ তৈরি করে এই স্কলারশিপ।
তিনি বলেন, জননীতি, বিজ্ঞান, ব্যবসা কিংবা সামাজিক পরিবর্তনের মতো বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে নেতৃত্ব দেওয়ার স্বপ্ন দেখা তরুণদের জন্য চেভেনিং একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আন্তর্জাতিক প্ল্যাটফর্ম এবং দেশের প্রতিটি প্রান্তের যোগ্য আবেদনকারীদের তিনি আবেদন করার আহ্বান জানান।
ভারতে চেভেনিং কর্মসূচিতে বিভিন্ন রাজ্য সরকার ও শিল্পপ্রতিষ্ঠান অংশীদার হিসেবে যুক্ত রয়েছে। উত্তরপ্রদেশ, ঝাড়খণ্ড, নাগাল্যান্ড ও কর্নাটক সরকারের পাশাপাশি TVS Motors-এর সহযোগিতায়ও অতিরিক্ত স্কলারশিপ প্রদান করা হয়।
যুক্তরাজ্য সরকারের মতে, এই অংশীদারিত্বের লক্ষ্য সমাজের প্রান্তিক জনগোষ্ঠী, টিয়ার-২ ও টিয়ার-৩ শহরের মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থী এবং নারী-পুরুষের সমান অংশগ্রহণ নিশ্চিত করা।
চেভেনিং স্কলারশিপকে যুক্তরাজ্য ও ভারতের Vision 2035-এর শিক্ষা ও দক্ষতা উন্নয়ন সহযোগিতার একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ হিসেবে বিবেচনা করা হচ্ছে। এই কর্মসূচির মাধ্যমে ভারতীয় পেশাজীবীরা বিশ্বমানের শিক্ষা, আন্তর্জাতিক যোগাযোগ এবং নেতৃত্বের দক্ষতা অর্জন করে নিজ নিজ ক্ষেত্রে আরও কার্যকর ভূমিকা রাখতে পারবেন।

Applications Open for Fully Funded UK Chevening Scholarships for Indian Students
NEW DELHI, Aug. 3 (SPT): Applications for the UK Government’s fully funded Chevening Scholarships will open on Aug. 4 for Indian citizens seeking to pursue a one-year master’s degree at universities across the United Kingdom, with the application window remaining open until Oct. 6, 2026.
The Chevening Scholarships, the UK government’s flagship global scholarship programme, provide full financial support, including tuition fees, travel costs and living expenses, enabling recipients to study at any eligible UK university.
Applicants must be Indian citizens and have at least two years of work experience gained after completing their undergraduate degree.
According to the UK Government, India hosts the largest Chevening programme globally. Since its launch in the country in 1983, more than 4,000 Indian scholars have received the award. Alumni have gone on to contribute across public policy, science, business, education and community development, using the knowledge and international networks gained during their studies in the UK.
“Education is one of the key pillars of the UK-India Vision 2035 and Chevening is our flagship programme,” Acting British High Commissioner to India Ben Mellor said in a statement.
“The awards offer some of India’s brightest emerging leaders the opportunity to study in the UK while becoming part of a vibrant global network. Whether their ambition is shaping public policy, driving scientific discovery, growing businesses or creating positive social change, Chevening provides a unique platform for future leaders,” Mellor said.
The programme in India is supported by several state governments, including Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Nagaland and Karnataka, as well as industry partner TVS Motor Company, which jointly fund additional scholarships.
The partnerships are aimed at expanding access to talented candidates from across India, including applicants from marginalised communities, Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, while maintaining gender-balanced representation among scholars.
The UK Government said the scholarship programme remains a key component of the education and skills partnership under the UK-India Vision 2035, strengthening academic cooperation and leadership development between the two countries by enabling Indian professionals to gain world-class education, build international networks and return to contribute to their respective fields.
