নেপাল পর্যটন বোর্ডের (NTB) সর্বশেষ Situation Update–10 অনুযায়ী, ৩০ আগস্ট ২০২৬, সন্ধ্যা ৬টা পর্যন্ত মোট ২৮৯ জন বিদেশি নাগরিক ও পর্যটককে উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে। আরও ৫ জন পর্যটকের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ স্থাপন করা সম্ভব হয়েছে, যাদের মধ্যে রয়েছেন ৩ জন স্পেনের, ১ জন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের এবং ১ জন বেলজিয়ামের নাগরিক। তবে সবচেয়ে বড় উদ্বেগের বিষয়, এখনও ৫৯১ জন বিদেশি নাগরিক ও পর্যটক যোগাযোগবিচ্ছিন্ন রয়েছেন।
এই তথ্য ট্যুরিস্ট পুলিশ এবং নেপালের National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA)-র যাচাইকৃত তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে প্রকাশ করেছে নেপাল পর্যটন বোর্ড।
ভারতীয় পর্যটকরাই সবচেয়ে বেশি উদ্ধার
NTB প্রকাশিত সর্বশেষ তালিকা অনুযায়ী, উদ্ধার হওয়া ২৮৯ জন বিদেশি নাগরিক ও পর্যটকের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে বেশি রয়েছেন ভারতের নাগরিক—১৮০ জন।

এই পরিসংখ্যান থেকেই স্পষ্ট, বিপর্যয়কবলিত অঞ্চলে আটকে পড়া বিদেশি পর্যটকদের মধ্যে ভারতীয়দের সংখ্যা উল্লেখযোগ্য ছিল এবং উদ্ধার অভিযানে ভারতীয় নাগরিকদের একটি বড় অংশকে নিরাপদ স্থানে সরিয়ে নেওয়া সম্ভব হয়েছে।
৫৯১ জন এখনও যোগাযোগবিচ্ছিন্ন
উদ্ধার অভিযান চললেও ৫৯১ জনের সঙ্গে এখনও যোগাযোগ স্থাপন করা যায়নি। তবে নেপাল পর্যটন বোর্ড জানিয়েছে, ‘যোগাযোগবিচ্ছিন্ন’ তালিকায় থাকা প্রত্যেক ব্যক্তিকেই নিখোঁজ বা মৃত হিসেবে গণ্য করা হচ্ছে না। বিপর্যস্ত পাহাড়ি অঞ্চলে মোবাইল নেটওয়ার্ক বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে যাওয়া, সড়ক যোগাযোগ ভেঙে পড়া, পর্যটকদের অবস্থান পরিবর্তন এবং বিভিন্ন সংস্থার তথ্যভান্ডারের মধ্যে সমন্বয়ের সমস্যার কারণে অনেকের অবস্থান এখনও নিশ্চিত করা সম্ভব হয়নি।
এই কারণেই পর্যটকদের তালিকা যাচাই এবং একই ব্যক্তির নাম একাধিক তালিকায় থাকার সম্ভাবনা দূর করতে এখন বিশেষ সমন্বয় ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হচ্ছে।
নিখোঁজ পর্যটকদের জন্য NTB-তে বিশেষ ইনফরমেশন ডেস্ক
এই পরিস্থিতিতে নিখোঁজ পর্যটকদের সন্ধান এবং উদ্ধার হওয়া ব্যক্তিদের তথ্য দ্রুত পরিবারের কাছে পৌঁছে দিতে নেপাল পর্যটন বোর্ডে একটি বিশেষায়িত ইনফরমেশন ডেস্ক স্থাপনের সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে। ৩০ আগস্ট অনুষ্ঠিত একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বৈঠকে এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়।
পর্যটন বিভাগের মহাপরিচালক রামকৃষ্ণ লামিছানে এবং নেপাল পর্যটন বোর্ডের ভারপ্রাপ্ত প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা হিকমত সিং আয়েরের নেতৃত্বে অনুষ্ঠিত বৈঠকে সরকারি সংস্থা, নিরাপত্তা কর্তৃপক্ষ এবং নেপালের পর্যটন শিল্পের প্রায় ৪০ জন প্রতিনিধি উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

কী করবে এই বিশেষ ইনফরমেশন ডেস্ক?
নতুন এই বিশেষায়িত ডেস্কের প্রধান কাজ হবে—
১. উদ্ধার হওয়া পর্যটকদের তথ্য প্রকাশ
উদ্ধার হওয়া বিদেশি নাগরিক ও পর্যটকদের পরিচয় ও অবস্থান সম্পর্কে যাচাইকৃত তথ্য নিয়মিত সংগ্রহ ও প্রকাশ করা হবে।
২. যোগাযোগবিচ্ছিন্ন পর্যটকদের সন্ধান
ট্যুর ও ট্রাভেল কোম্পানিগুলির কাছ থেকে নির্দিষ্ট ফোকাল পার্সনের মাধ্যমে যোগাযোগবিচ্ছিন্ন পর্যটকদের তথ্য সংগ্রহ করা হবে।
৩. দূতাবাসগুলির সঙ্গে সমন্বয়
বিভিন্ন দেশের নাগরিকদের বিষয়ে সংশ্লিষ্ট দূতাবাসের সঙ্গে সরাসরি সমন্বয় করা হবে।
৪. পরিবারের কাছে দ্রুত তথ্য পৌঁছে দেওয়া
নিখোঁজ বা যোগাযোগবিচ্ছিন্ন পর্যটকদের পরিবার যাতে সঠিক এবং সময়োপযোগী তথ্য পায়, তা নিশ্চিত করার দায়িত্ব দেওয়া হবে সংশ্লিষ্ট ট্যুর ও ট্রাভেল কোম্পানিগুলিকে।
৫. জাতীয় পর্যায়ে একটি ডেডিকেটেড সেলের দাবি
উদ্ধার হওয়া, যোগাযোগবিচ্ছিন্ন এবং মৃত হিসেবে নিশ্চিত হওয়া পর্যটকদের তথ্য এক জায়গায় সমন্বিত করার জন্য NDRRMA-র অধীনে একটি বিশেষ ডেডিকেটেড সেল গঠনের জন্য সরকারের কাছে অনুরোধ জানানো হবে।
কাঠমান্ডু–মুগলিং সড়ক সম্পূর্ণ বন্ধ
বন্যা পরিস্থিতির পাশাপাশি নেপালের অন্যতম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সড়ক যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থাতেও বড় ধাক্কা লেগেছে। নেপাল পর্যটন বোর্ড জানিয়েছে, ধাদিং জেলার বেনীঘাট রোরং গ্রামীণ পৌরসভার কৃষ্ণভীর পয়েন্টে নদী সড়কের একটি অংশ গ্রাস করার পর ভূমিধস দেখা দেয়।
এর ফলে কাঠমান্ডু–মুগলিং সড়ক, যা পৃথিবী মহাসড়ক নামে পরিচিত, বর্তমানে সম্পূর্ণরূপে অবরুদ্ধ হয়ে পড়েছে। এই সড়ক নেপালের রাজধানী কাঠমান্ডুর সঙ্গে দেশের বিভিন্ন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অঞ্চলের যোগাযোগের ক্ষেত্রে অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। রসুয়া, নুওয়াকোট, ধাদিং এবং গোর্খা জেলার বন্যাকবলিত কয়েকটি সড়ক অংশও ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে।
তবে NTB জানিয়েছে, ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত অঞ্চলগুলির বাইরে দেশের অধিকাংশ অংশে সড়ক যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা এখনও কার্যকর রয়েছে।
পর্যটকদের জন্য জরুরি সতর্কবার্তা
নেপাল পর্যটন বোর্ড পর্যটক এবং ভ্রমণকারীদের বিশেষ সতর্ক থাকার পরামর্শ দিয়েছে। বিশেষ করে রসুয়া, নুওয়াকোট, ধাদিং এবং গোর্খা জেলার দিকে যাত্রা করার আগে—
- সর্বশেষ সড়ক পরিস্থিতি পরীক্ষা করতে,
- আবহাওয়ার পূর্বাভাস দেখে নিতে,
- স্থানীয় প্রশাসনের নির্দেশিকা অনুসরণ করতে,
- নিরাপত্তা সংস্থার পরামর্শ মেনে চলতে,
- এবং ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ নদী ও পাহাড়ি সড়ক এড়িয়ে চলতে বলা হয়েছে।
পর্যটন শিল্পের সামনে এখন সবচেয়ে বড় চ্যালেঞ্জ—তথ্যের সমন্বয়
এই বিপর্যয়ের পর নেপালের সামনে শুধু উদ্ধার অভিযান নয়, আরও একটি বড় চ্যালেঞ্জ তৈরি হয়েছে—সঠিক তথ্যের দ্রুত সমন্বয়।
একদিকে রয়েছে ট্যুর অপারেটরদের তালিকা, অন্যদিকে ট্যুরিস্ট পুলিশের তথ্য, স্থানীয় প্রশাসনের রিপোর্ট, হোটেল রেজিস্টার এবং বিভিন্ন দেশের দূতাবাসের কাছে থাকা তথ্য। একই পর্যটক বিভিন্ন তালিকায় থাকা, মোবাইল ফোন বন্ধ থাকা অথবা উদ্ধার হওয়ার পরও তথ্য দ্রুত কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যবস্থায় পৌঁছাতে না পারার মতো সমস্যাও পরিস্থিতিকে জটিল করে তুলছে।
সেই কারণেই নেপাল পর্যটন বোর্ড এবার একটি কেন্দ্রীয় সমন্বয় কাঠামো তৈরি করতে চাইছে।
ভুয়া খবর না ছড়ানোর আবেদন NTB-র
পরিস্থিতি নিয়ে সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যমে বিভিন্ন ধরনের তথ্য ছড়িয়ে পড়ার মধ্যেই নেপাল পর্যটন বোর্ড বিশেষভাবে সতর্ক করেছে।
NTB জানিয়েছে, পর্যটন সংস্থা, ট্যুর অপারেটর এবং অন্যান্য অংশীদারদের শুধুমাত্র সত্যতা যাচাইকৃত ও সময়োপযোগী তথ্য নির্ধারিত সমন্বয় ব্যবস্থার মাধ্যমে প্রকাশ করতে হবে। অযাচাইকৃত তথ্য বা গুজব ছড়িয়ে না দেওয়ার জন্যও সকলের কাছে আবেদন জানানো হয়েছে।
চার দিন পরও শেষ হয়নি উদ্ধার অভিযান
২৬ আগস্ট রসুয়া, নুওয়াকোট, ধাদিং এবং গোর্খা জেলায় ভোটেকোশী ও ত্রিশূলী নদী অববাহিকায় আকস্মিক বন্যা শুরু হওয়ার পর থেকেই নেপালের বিভিন্ন সরকারি সংস্থা, নিরাপত্তা বাহিনী, স্থানীয় প্রশাসন, ট্যুরিস্ট পুলিশ এবং পর্যটন শিল্প যৌথভাবে উদ্ধার অভিযান চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে। আটকে পড়া, আহত এবং ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত বিদেশি নাগরিক ও পর্যটকদের—
- অনুসন্ধান,
- উদ্ধার,
- নিরাপদ স্থানে স্থানান্তর,

Nepal Flood: 289 Foreign Tourists Rescued, 591 Still Out of Contact; NTB Sets Up Special Information Desk
Kathmandu–Mugling highway remains blocked after river erosion and landslide as authorities intensify search and information coordination

KATHMANDU, Aug. 30, 2026 — Nepal has rescued 289 foreign nationals and tourists following the devastating flash floods that struck the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river regions earlier this week, while 591 people remain out of contact, the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) said on Sunday.
The latest figures, released in NTB’s Situation Update–10, cover the situation as of 6 p.m. on August 30 and are based on information from the Tourist Police and Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
Authorities said they had also established contact with five previously unreachable foreign nationals — three Spaniards, one American and one Belgian.
The floods struck parts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Gorkha districts on August 26, triggering widespread disruption in mountainous areas and affecting tourists travelling through some of Nepal’s most popular trekking and overland routes.
Indian nationals account for the largest number rescued
According to the Nepal Tourism Board, Indian nationals accounted for the largest number of foreign tourists rescued, with 180 people brought to safety.
A further 89 Chinese nationals were rescued, along with tourists and foreign nationals from Germany, Malta, Italy, Russia, Turkey, the United States, Bulgaria, Oman, Portugal and Switzerland.
The latest breakdown of rescued foreign nationals is:

The figures bring the total number of rescued foreign nationals and tourists to 289.
However, the authorities said 591 people remain out of contact, underscoring the scale of the continuing search and verification operation.
Officials have not said that all those listed as out of contact are confirmed missing, as disrupted communications, damaged transport links and difficulties in verifying the movements of travellers have complicated efforts to establish their whereabouts.
NTB to establish specialised information desk
In response to the crisis, Nepal’s tourism authorities and industry representatives have agreed to establish a specialised information desk to coordinate verified updates on rescued and uncontactable tourists.
The decision was taken at a meeting led by Tourism Department Director-General Ram Krishna Lamichhane and Nepal Tourism Board acting Chief Executive Officer Hikmat Singh Ayer.
Around 40 representatives from government agencies and Nepal’s tourism industry attended the meeting.
Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Tourist Police, the Hotel Association Nepal (HAN), the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), the Hotel Professional Federation Nepal (HPFN), the Association of Kailash and Mansarovar Tour Operators and other tourism organisations.
The proposed information desk will coordinate updates on:
- Rescued tourists;
- People who remain out of contact;
- The wider flood situation;
- Verified information from tour and travel companies;
- Coordination with foreign embassies; and
- Information for families of affected travellers.
Tour and travel companies will also be asked to provide verified details of uncontactable tourists through designated focal persons and coordinate with relevant embassies regarding their citizens.
Authorities said efforts would also be made to ensure that families receive accurate and timely information through the companies organising the affected travellers’ trips.
Call for dedicated national data cell
The meeting also agreed to request the establishment of a dedicated cell under Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
The proposed system would consolidate information on tourists who have been rescued, remain uncontactable or have been confirmed dead.
Tourism businesses will also be asked to submit details of damaged tourism infrastructure to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and the Nepal Tourism Board.
The move is aimed at improving coordination between government agencies, security authorities, tour operators, hotels and international partners as the situation continues to evolve.
Kathmandu–Mugling highway fully blocked
The disaster has also severely disrupted road transport.
The Nepal Tourism Board said the Kathmandu–Mugling road, part of the Prithvi Highway, has been completely blocked after the river eroded part of the road at Krishnabhir in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality in Dhading district, triggering a collapse and landslide.
The highway is a major transport route linking Kathmandu with several important parts of Nepal.
Several road sections in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Gorkha have also been affected by the floods.
However, the NTB said road connectivity in most other parts of the country remains operational.
Travellers and tourists have been advised to check the latest road and weather conditions before beginning their journeys, particularly when travelling to or through the affected districts.
Authorities have also urged visitors to follow instructions issued by local administrations and security agencies.
Search and rescue operations continue
Government agencies, security forces, local authorities, Tourist Police and tourism industry representatives have been working together since the flash floods struck on August 26.
Search, rescue, evacuation and emergency assistance operations remain underway for stranded, injured and affected foreign nationals and tourists.
The NTB said it would continue coordinating with the Tourist Police, NDRRMA, tourism stakeholders and other relevant agencies to provide assistance and release verified information as it becomes available.
The board also urged tourism stakeholders and the public to avoid spreading unverified reports.
