এসপিটি নিউজ, কলকাতা, ৭ অক্টোবর: কলকাতা থেকে সৌদি আরবের সঙ্গে বিমান যোগাযোগ আরও বাড়ার সম্ভাবনা তৈরি হয়েছে। সৌদি আরবের স্বল্পমূল্যের বিমান সংস্থা ফ্লাইডিল ভারতীয় বাজারে নিজেদের পরিষেবা আরও বিস্তৃত করার পরিকল্পনা করছে। মুম্বই ও হায়দরাবাদের পর ভারতের আরও কয়েকটি শহরে উড়ান চালুর সম্ভাবনা খতিয়ে দেখছে সংস্থাটি। সম্ভাব্য নতুন গন্তব্যের তালিকায় রয়েছে কলকাতা, দিল্লি ও লখনউ।

তবে কলকাতা থেকে ফ্লাইডিলের উড়ান শুরু করার বিষয়ে এখনও কোনও চূড়ান্ত সিদ্ধান্ত বা আনুষ্ঠানিক ঘোষণা হয়নি। সংস্থাটি ভারতের আরও শহরে নিজেদের পরিষেবা সম্প্রসারণের সম্ভাবনা বিবেচনা করছে। সেই তালিকায় কলকাতার নাম থাকায় পূর্ব ভারতের বিমান ও পর্যটন শিল্পে বিষয়টি ইতিমধ্যেই আগ্রহ তৈরি করেছে।

ফ্লাইডিল সৌদি আরবের একটি স্বল্পমূল্যের বিমান সংস্থা। তুলনামূলক কম খরচে বিমানযাত্রার সুযোগ তৈরি করাই সংস্থাটির ব্যবসায়িক মডেলের অন্যতম বৈশিষ্ট্য। ভারতীয় বাজারে বিমানযাত্রীর সংখ্যা দ্রুত বাড়তে থাকায় সৌদি আরবের বিমান সংস্থাগুলিও ভারতের বিভিন্ন শহরের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ বাড়ানোর দিকে নজর দিচ্ছে।

কলকাতাকে নতুন গন্তব্য হিসেবে যুক্ত করা হলে তার গুরুত্ব শুধু পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ থাকবে না। পূর্ব ভারতের অন্যতম প্রধান বিমান যোগাযোগের কেন্দ্র হিসেবে কলকাতা থেকে বিহার, ঝাড়খণ্ড, ওড়িশা এবং উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতের বহু যাত্রী আন্তর্জাতিক গন্তব্যে যাতায়াত করেন। ফলে কলকাতা থেকে সৌদি আরবে সরাসরি আরও একটি বিমান পরিষেবা চালু হলে বিস্তৃত অঞ্চলের যাত্রীরা তার সুবিধা পেতে পারেন।

এর পাশাপাশি পর্যটনের ক্ষেত্রেও এই সম্ভাব্য বিমান যোগাযোগ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। সৌদি আরব গত কয়েক বছরে পর্যটন ক্ষেত্রকে নতুনভাবে গড়ে তোলার দিকে বিশেষ গুরুত্ব দিয়েছে। ঐতিহাসিক স্থান, মরুভূমির পর্যটন, সমুদ্রতট, সাংস্কৃতিক আকর্ষণ এবং আধুনিক বিনোদনকেন্দ্রকে সামনে রেখে দেশটি আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যটকদের আকর্ষণ করার চেষ্টা করছে। ফলে ভারতীয় পর্যটকদের কাছেও সৌদি আরবের আকর্ষণ আগের তুলনায় বাড়ছে।

কলকাতা থেকে সৌদি আরবের সঙ্গে বিমান যোগাযোগ বাড়লে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের পর্যটকদের জন্যও সেই সুযোগ আরও সহজ হতে পারে। বিশেষ করে সরাসরি উড়ানের সংখ্যা বাড়লে যাত্রার সময় কমার পাশাপাশি সংযোগকারী বিমানবন্দরের উপর নির্ভরতা কমবে। বিমানভাড়া প্রতিযোগিতামূলক হলে আরও বেশি মানুষ সৌদি আরব ভ্রমণের কথা ভাবতে পারেন।

শুধু পর্যটন নয়, ব্যবসা এবং কর্মসূত্রে যাতায়াতের ক্ষেত্রেও কলকাতা-সৌদি আরব বিমান যোগাযোগের গুরুত্ব রয়েছে। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ এবং পূর্ব ভারতের বিভিন্ন ব্যবসায়ী, পেশাজীবী ও কর্মসূত্রে বিদেশযাত্রাকারী মানুষের জন্য সৌদি আরব একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ গন্তব্য। সরাসরি বিমান পরিষেবা বাড়লে তাঁদের যাতায়াত আরও সহজ হতে পারে।

ধর্মীয় ভ্রমণের ক্ষেত্রেও বিষয়টির আলাদা গুরুত্ব রয়েছে। সৌদি আরবের মক্কা ও মদিনা বিশ্বের অন্যতম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ধর্মীয় গন্তব্য। ভারত থেকে প্রতি বছর বিপুল সংখ্যক মানুষ হজ ও ওমরাহর জন্য সৌদি আরব যান। কলকাতা থেকে আরও সরাসরি বিমান যোগাযোগ তৈরি হলে পূর্ব ভারতের যাত্রীদের জন্যও অতিরিক্ত যাতায়াতের সুযোগ তৈরি হতে পারে।

বর্তমানে কলকাতা বিমানবন্দর থেকেই মধ্যপ্রাচ্যের বিভিন্ন গন্তব্যে বিমান পরিষেবা রয়েছে। তবে আন্তর্জাতিক যাত্রী ও পর্যটনের চাহিদা বাড়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে কলকাতা থেকে আরও বেশি সরাসরি আন্তর্জাতিক উড়ানের প্রয়োজনীয়তাও বাড়ছে। সেই জায়গায় ফ্লাইডিলের সম্ভাব্য সম্প্রসারণ কলকাতার বিমান যোগাযোগের ক্ষেত্রে নতুন মাত্রা যোগ করতে পারে।

ফ্লাইডিল ইতিমধ্যেই ভারতের বাজারে নিজেদের উপস্থিতি বাড়ানোর পথে এগোচ্ছে। মুম্বই ও হায়দরাবাদের সঙ্গে পরিষেবা চালুর পর আরও শহরে পৌঁছনোর পরিকল্পনা সেই সম্প্রসারণেরই অংশ। কলকাতা, দিল্লি ও লখনউয়ের মতো শহরকে সম্ভাব্য গন্তব্য হিসেবে বিবেচনা করা হলে বোঝা যায়, ভারতের আঞ্চলিক বিমানবন্দরগুলির আন্তর্জাতিক সম্ভাবনার দিকেও সৌদি বিমান সংস্থাগুলির নজর বাড়ছে।

তবে কলকাতা নিয়ে এখনই নিশ্চিতভাবে উড়ান চালুর কথা বলা ঠিক হবে না। সম্ভাব্য সম্প্রসারণের পরিকল্পনা থেকে বাস্তবে পরিষেবা চালু করতে বিমানবন্দরের সুযোগ, উড়ানের সময়সূচি, যাত্রী চাহিদা, বাণিজ্যিক সম্ভাবনা এবং দুই দেশের বিমান চলাচল সংক্রান্ত অনুমোদন—একাধিক বিষয় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হয়ে উঠবে।

তাই আপাতত কলকাতার যাত্রী ও পর্যটন শিল্পের কাছে খবরটি সম্ভাবনার। শেষ পর্যন্ত ফ্লাইডিল কলকাতাকে নতুন গন্তব্য হিসেবে বেছে নেয় কি না এবং নিলে কবে থেকে পরিষেবা শুরু হয়, এখন সেদিকেই নজর থাকবে।

তবে একটি বিষয় পরিষ্কার—সৌদি আরবের বিমান সংস্থাগুলির ভারতীয় বাজারে আগ্রহ বাড়ছে এবং সেই সম্প্রসারণের সম্ভাব্য তালিকায় কলকাতার নাম উঠে আসা পূর্ব ভারতের আন্তর্জাতিক বিমান যোগাযোগের জন্য নিঃসন্দেহে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ইঙ্গিত।

Flyadeal Eyes Kolkata as Potential New Indian Destination, Raising Prospects for More Saudi Air Connectivity

SPT NEWS, Kolkata, 7 October: Kolkata could soon see stronger air connectivity with Saudi Arabia, with Saudi low-cost airline Flyadeal considering the city as one of its potential new destinations in India.

The airline is looking to expand its presence in the Indian market beyond Mumbai and Hyderabad. Kolkata, Delhi and Lucknow are among the cities reportedly being considered as part of its wider expansion plans.

For Kolkata, the development could be significant. If Flyadeal eventually launches direct flights to Saudi Arabia, it could provide passengers from West Bengal and other parts of eastern India with another option for travelling to the Gulf country.

The proposed expansion could benefit several sectors, including tourism, business travel, employment-related travel and religious tourism. Saudi Arabia has been investing heavily in developing its tourism sector and is increasingly positioning itself as a destination for international travellers.

Direct connectivity from Kolkata could also make travel more convenient for passengers from neighbouring states such as Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha, as well as parts of northeastern India, who often use Kolkata as an important gateway for international travel.

The potential route could be particularly relevant for religious travel. Saudi Arabia attracts a large number of Indian visitors travelling for Hajj and Umrah. Additional direct connectivity from eastern India could offer travellers more choices and potentially improve access to the kingdom.

Flyadeal is a low-cost carrier based in Saudi Arabia and has been expanding its network in international markets. Its existing presence in India includes services from Mumbai and Hyderabad. The possible addition of Kolkata would mark a further expansion of the airline’s footprint in the country.

However, it is important to note that there has been no final announcement yet regarding the launch of Flyadeal flights from Kolkata. Kolkata is currently being considered as one of the potential destinations as the airline evaluates further expansion in India.

Several factors, including passenger demand, commercial viability, airport capacity, flight schedules and regulatory approvals, would need to be considered before any new route becomes operational.

For Kolkata’s aviation and tourism sectors, however, the development is being closely watched. The addition of another international carrier could strengthen the city’s position as an aviation gateway for eastern India and create new opportunities for tourism and travel between the region and Saudi Arabia.

The key question now is whether Flyadeal will eventually select Kolkata as one of its new Indian destinations and, if so, when direct services could begin.

For the moment, the proposed expansion remains a possibility rather than a confirmed route. But the fact that Kolkata is being considered is itself a significant indication of the growing potential of the city’s international aviation market.
