SPT News, Kolkata, April 23: Akshya Tritiya festival was celebrated in many places today. Members of the Vishwa Sindhi Seva Sangam(VSSS) also met at the Apsara Apartments on Park Street on Sunday holidays. There they celebrate the festival by participating in fun and games. Anil Punjabi, state president of VSSS, said – Today on this festival day, the members met. ‘Tambola’ sports event was organized here. Many people participated there. Some part of today’s event will go to charity, said Anil Punjabi.
About 150 people participated in the tambola event organized at Apsara Apartments on Park Street. 120 of them were women. This event is sponsored by Punjab National Bank or PNB. This event is in association with Life N ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund.
According to the organization, the winners participating in this event will be awarded with silver coins. Also awarded to the best dressed lady.There is a bumper house winner prize. Return air tickets to Mumbai will be provided. It will give Spice Jet. All in all, the members of the Sindhi family of Kolkata met in a crowded festival.
Aims and objectives
To promote underprivileged and exceptional (merited) Sindhi youth who are willing to join IAS/IPS cadre with financial assistance. Till now Gujarat is the only state in Indian Union which has given our Sindhis “minority” status. One of our goals will be to get similar “minority” status in the remaining states of India.
Promotion of Sindhi Culture: Sindhi Language (Reading, Writing and Speaking). Besides celebrating Sindhi festivals like Cheti Chand, Chalihi, Tijri, Gogo, Thadri, Mahalakshmi Sagar etc. Ensuring that every school having a minimum of forty (40) Sindhi students should have Sindhi language in its curriculum.Encouraging Sindhi students to take diploma in Sindhi language which will give them direct entry into civil services.
Empowering women, taking care of Sindhi senior citizens, providing financial assistance to underprivileged yet deserving Sindhi students, helping Sindhi girls get married or marriageable, resuming participation of “Sindhi mooks” (Jhankis) in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi, “landless state” status for Sindhis. And of course to make Sindhi Academy in all states of India. To make Sindhi University.
