এসপিটি নিউজ, মুম্বই, ১৭ আগস্ট: দীর্ঘ ১৭ বছর পর ভারতীয় আকাশপথে ফিরছে স্ক্যান্ডিনেভিয়ান এয়ারলাইন্স বা এসএএস। বিমান সংস্থাটি আগামী ১ অক্টোবর ২০২৬ থেকে মুম্বই ও ডেনমার্কের রাজধানী কোপেনহেগেনের মধ্যে সারা বছর সরাসরি উড়ান পরিষেবা চালু করতে চলেছে। সংস্থার পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে, নতুন পরিষেবা চালুর জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় পরিচালন ও বাস্তব প্রস্তুতি সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে।
নতুন পরিষেবাটি সপ্তাহে পাঁচ দিন পরিচালিত হবে। কোপেনহেগেন থেকে মুম্বইগামী উড়ানটি এসকে ৯৬৯ এবং মুম্বই থেকে কোপেনহেগেনগামী ফিরতি উড়ানটি এসকে ৯৭০ নম্বরে চলবে। পরিষেবায় ব্যবহার করা হবে এয়ারবাস এ৩৩০ বিমান, যার আসনসংখ্যা প্রায় ২৬৬।
এই সরাসরি সংযোগ শুধু ভারত ও ডেনমার্কের মধ্যে যাতায়াত সহজ করবে না, স্ক্যান্ডিনেভিয়া এবং ভারতের মধ্যে পর্যটন, ব্যবসা ও বাণিজ্যিক যোগাযোগও আরও শক্তিশালী করবে। কোপেনহেগেনকে কেন্দ্র করে যাত্রীরা এসএএসের নেটওয়ার্কের মাধ্যমে নরওয়ে, সুইডেনসহ ইউরোপের বিভিন্ন গন্তব্য এবং উত্তর আমেরিকার শহরগুলিতেও সংযোগ পেতে পারবেন।
মুম্বই–কোপেনহেগেন সরাসরি উড়ানটি প্রায় ৬,৪৪৪ কিলোমিটার পথ অতিক্রম করবে এবং উড়ানের সময় প্রায় ৯ ঘণ্টা ৪০ মিনিট।
এসএএস-এর ভারত প্রত্যাবর্তনের এই ঘোষণা অবশ্য কিছুটা নাটকীয় পটভূমির পর এল। সংস্থাটি প্রথমে ২ জুন ২০২৬ থেকে এই পরিষেবা চালুর পরিকল্পনা করেছিল। কিন্তু প্রয়োজনীয় নিয়ন্ত্রক অনুমোদন সম্পূর্ণ না হওয়ায় উদ্বোধনী উড়ানটি কোপেনহেগেন থেকে মুম্বইয়ের পথে গিয়ে মাঝপথ থেকে ফিরে যেতে বাধ্য হয়েছিল। এরপর পরিষেবা চালুর নতুন তারিখ নির্ধারণ করা হয় ১ অক্টোবর।
এবার অবশ্য এসএএস জানিয়েছে, প্রয়োজনীয় সমস্ত পরিচালন ও বাস্তব প্রস্তুতি সম্পন্ন হয়েছে এবং নতুন পরিষেবা চালুর জন্য উড়ানগুলি প্রস্তুত।
ভারতের দ্রুত বাড়তে থাকা আন্তর্জাতিক বিমান যোগাযোগের বাজারে এসএএসের প্রত্যাবর্তন বিশেষ তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ। নতুন এই সরাসরি উড়ান ভারতীয় পর্যটকদের জন্য স্ক্যান্ডিনেভিয়া ভ্রমণকে আরও সহজ করবে, একই সঙ্গে ডেনমার্ক, সুইডেন ও নরওয়ে থেকে ভারতমুখী পর্যটকদের জন্যও মুম্বই হয়ে দেশের বিভিন্ন পর্যটনকেন্দ্রে পৌঁছনোর নতুন সুযোগ তৈরি করবে।
এসএএস-এর ওয়েবসাইটেও বর্তমানে মুম্বইকে তাদের ভারতের গন্তব্য হিসেবে তুলে ধরা হয়েছে এবং কোপেনহেগেন, স্টকহোম ও অসলো হয়ে মুম্বই যাওয়ার সংযোগের তথ্য দেওয়া রয়েছে।
১৭ বছর পর এসএএস-এর প্রত্যাবর্তন তাই শুধু একটি নতুন বিমান পরিষেবা নয়—ভারত ও স্ক্যান্ডিনেভিয়ার মধ্যে পর্যটন ও বিমান যোগাযোগের মানচিত্রে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পুনঃসংযোগ।

SAS Returns to India After 17 Years, Reconnecting Mumbai and Copenhagen With Nonstop Flights
SPT NEWS, Mumbai, August 17, 2026: Scandinavian Airlines, widely known as SAS, has returned to the Indian market after a 17-year absence, restoring a nonstop air link between Mumbai and Copenhagen and strengthening connectivity between India and Scandinavia.
The airline is operating the route as a year-round service with five flights a week, using Airbus A330 aircraft. The service is being operated under flight numbers SK969 and SK970, linking Copenhagen Airport with Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
SAS had originally announced the Copenhagen-Mumbai route as part of its long-haul expansion, describing India as a strategically important market with growing demand for both business and leisure travel. The airline said the route would strengthen links between Scandinavia and India while also offering convenient connections through Copenhagen to destinations across Europe and North America.
The return of SAS marks a significant development in India’s expanding international aviation network. For Indian travellers, the nonstop service provides a direct gateway to Denmark and the wider Nordic region, while travellers from Scandinavia gain easier access to Mumbai and onward connections across India.
Copenhagen is particularly important to SAS’s network strategy. The Danish capital serves as the airline’s principal international hub, with connections to destinations across the Nordic countries, Europe, North America and Asia. SAS currently lists Mumbai among its destinations from Copenhagen and also offers connections to Mumbai through Stockholm and Oslo.
The route is also expected to support tourism and business travel between India and the Nordic region. Mumbai, India’s financial and commercial capital, is a major destination for international business travellers as well as a gateway to the country’s cultural and leisure attractions.
For European visitors, the new direct connection could make India more accessible at a time when international demand for travel to the country continues to expand. For Indian travellers, Copenhagen provides a convenient entry point to destinations such as Stockholm, Oslo and other parts of Scandinavia, as well as wider European and North American markets.
SAS has been rebuilding and expanding its long-haul network following a major restructuring. The airline joined the SkyTeam alliance in September 2024, expanding its ability to offer connections through partner airlines worldwide.
The Mumbai service is part of a broader strategy by SAS to strengthen Copenhagen as an international hub. The airline has been adding long-haul capacity and expanding its network to meet rising demand. Its current international network includes destinations across North America, Asia and Europe.
The airline’s wider expansion is also moving beyond India. For the 2026-27 winter season, SAS has announced new long-haul services from Copenhagen to Dubai, Phuket and Krabi, underlining its focus on strengthening international connectivity and leisure markets.
For India’s aviation and tourism sectors, the significance of the SAS return goes beyond the addition of another international airline. The new connection creates a direct bridge between India’s western economic gateway and Scandinavia, potentially supporting tourism, trade, investment and cultural exchanges.
