SPT News: The situation is changing. The travel and tourism industry is turning around. Power is still limited in some geographical areas due to the war in Europe and travel restrictions related to Covid. International and domestic bookings are on the way to recovery. Flight services are being affected in both cases. Says the IATA report.

The number of bookings for international and domestic flights is increasing. In this regard, various aspects have come up in the report of IATA. Let’s take a look at what is said in the report.

Domestic sales were hit hard in February, when Asia was shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown. But now domestic flight ticket sales have increased. International bookings have been on the rise since the beginning of 2022, especially since the lifting of restrictions in Europe and the United States.

The report notes that the gap between international and domestic bookings is now narrowing. Since travel bans were the most restrictive on international travel, the last two years have been in a very bad place to recover air traffic.

However, international bookings are currently gaining momentum due to lower travel restrictions and increased demand. At present, international and domestic sales are 66% and 72%, respectively, as of 2019 levels. Surprisingly, the sale of international travel tickets for a few days in early May surpassed domestic travel. With summer approaching in the Northern Hemisphere, people are planning vacations. Being interested in traveling abroad.

Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. In April and May, up to September, 92% of travel bookings were international and 96% were domestic bookings. Of these, 43% were international bookings and 63% were domestic bookings for April and May. This was followed by 49% bookings for international and 33% for domestic travel (June-September). This shows that only 8% of international and 4% of domestic travel bookings for September were captured. This evolution shortens the horizons on which airlines can plan their services with some degree of visibility and thus introduce more uncertainty in operations.
