এসপিটি নিউজ : হেনলি পাসপোর্ট সূচক ২০২৫ অনুসারে ভারতীয় পাসপোর্টের অগ্রগতি হয়েছে। ক্রম তালিকায় ভারতের পাসপোর্ট এখন আট ধাপ উপরে উঠে এসছে। আগে ছিল ৮৫তম স্থানে। এখন হয়েছে ৭৭। গত বছর পাঁচ ধাপ নেমে যাওয়ার পর, যদিও ভিসা-মুক্ত তালিকায় মাত্র দুটি গন্তব্য অর্জন করেছে। ভারতে প্রবেশযোগ্য ভিসা-মুক্ত দেশের সংখ্যা ৫৯।মালয়েশিয়া, ইন্দোনেশিয়া, মালদ্বীপ, থাইল্যান্ড হল এমন কিছু দেশ যারা ভারতীয় পাসপোর্টধারীদের ভিসা-মুক্ত প্রবেশাধিকার প্রদান করে। শ্রীলঙ্কা, ম্যাকাও, মায়ানমার ইত্যাদি দেশগুলি ভিসা-অন-অ্যারাইভাল (VOA) প্রদান করে।
সর্বশেষ হেনলি পাসপোর্ট সূচক অনুসারে, বিশ্বের ২২৭টি গন্তব্যের মধ্যে ১৯৩টিতে ভিসা-মুক্ত প্রবেশাধিকার সহ সিঙ্গাপুর বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে শক্তিশালী পাসপোর্টের মুকুট ধরে রেখেছে। আন্তর্জাতিক বিমান পরিবহন সমিতি (IATA) থেকে প্রাপ্ত একচেটিয়া টিম্যাটিক তথ্যের উপর ভিত্তি করে এই সূচক তৈরি করা হয়েছে এবং বিশ্বের সকল পাসপোর্টকে তাদের ধারকরা পূর্ববর্তী ভিসা ছাড়াই কতগুলি গন্তব্যে প্রবেশ করতে পারবেন তার উপর ভিত্তি করে স্থান দেওয়া হয়।
এশিয়ার দেশগুলো বিশ্বব্যাপী চলাচলের প্রতিযোগিতায় নেতৃত্ব দিচ্ছে, জাপান এবং দক্ষিণ কোরিয়া দ্বিতীয় স্থানে রয়েছে, প্রতিটি দেশ তাদের নাগরিকদের ১৯০টি গন্তব্যে ভিসা-মুক্ত প্রবেশাধিকার প্রদান করছে।
শীর্ষ ৫ নম্বরের বাকি অংশে শক্তিশালী ইউরোপীয় দল স্থান করে নিয়েছে। সাতটি ইইউ পাসপোর্ট ভাগ করে তৃতীয় স্থানে রয়েছে – ডেনমার্ক, ফিনল্যান্ড, ফ্রান্স, জার্মানি, আয়ারল্যান্ড, ইতালি এবং স্পেন, যাদের সকলেরই ১৮৯টি গন্তব্যে প্রবেশাধিকার রয়েছে। ১৮৮টি গন্তব্যে ভিসা-মুক্ত প্রবেশাধিকার সহ সাতটি দেশের আরেকটি ইউরোপীয় দল যৌথভাবে চতুর্থ স্থানে রয়েছে – অস্ট্রিয়া, বেলজিয়াম, লুক্সেমবার্গ, নেদারল্যান্ডস, নরওয়ে, পর্তুগাল এবং সুইডেন – যেখানে আঞ্চলিক আধিপত্যকে চ্যালেঞ্জ জানানো একমাত্র দেশ নিউজিল্যান্ড গ্রীস এবং সুইজারল্যান্ডের সাথে পঞ্চম স্থানে রয়েছে।
বিশ্বব্যাপী চলাচলের অন্যান্য ক্ষেত্রে, আফগানিস্তান নীচে রয়েছে, এর নাগরিকরা পূর্ববর্তী ভিসা ছাড়াই কেবল ২৫টি গন্তব্যে প্রবেশ করতে সক্ষম।
জানুয়ারি থেকে বিশ্বব্যাপী পাসপোর্ট র্যাঙ্কিংয়ে যুক্তরাজ্য এবং মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র এক স্থান অবনমিত হয়েছে, যা দীর্ঘমেয়াদী নিম্নমুখী প্রবণতা অব্যাহত রেখেছে। একসময় বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে শক্তিশালী পাসপোর্ট – ২০১৫ সালে যুক্তরাজ্য এবং ২০১৪ সালে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র – এখন যথাক্রমে ষষ্ঠ এবং দশম স্থানে রয়েছে। যুক্তরাজ্যের বর্তমানে ১৮৬টি গন্তব্যে ভিসা-মুক্ত প্রবেশাধিকার রয়েছে, যেখানে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র ১৮২টি গন্তব্যে তাদের পিছনে রয়েছে। উল্লেখযোগ্যভাবে, মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র এখন সূচকের ২০ বছরের ইতিহাসে প্রথমবারের মতো শীর্ষ ১০ থেকে বেরিয়ে আসার দ্বারপ্রান্তে।
শীর্ষ উত্থিত দেশগুলির মধ্যে সংযুক্ত আরব আমিরাত এখনও একটি স্বতন্ত্র অবস্থানে রয়েছে, গত ১০ বছরে ৩৪ ধাপ এগিয়ে ৪২তম থেকে ৮ম স্থানে পৌঁছেছে, যা এটিকে র্যাঙ্কিংয়ে শীর্ষ ১০-এ স্থান পাওয়া একমাত্র বড় দেশ করে তুলেছে। আরেকটি উল্লেখযোগ্য বিজয়ী হল চীন, ২০১৫ সাল থেকে ৯৪তম থেকে ৬০তম স্থানে ৩৪ ধাপ এগিয়ে – বিশেষ করে চিত্তাকর্ষক কারণ, অন্যান্য শীর্ষ উত্থিত দেশগুলির মতো, চীন এখনও ইউরোপের শেনজেন অঞ্চলে ভিসা-মুক্ত প্রবেশাধিকার পায়নি।

India rises from 85th to 77th place in Henley Passport Index, who is at the top?
Indians will now have visa-free access to 59 countries

SPT News: The Indian passport has made progress according to the Henley Passport Index 2025. The Indian passport has now moved up eight places in the ranking. Earlier it was at 85th place. Now it is at 77. After falling five places last year, it has gained only two destinations in the visa-free list. The number of visa-free countries that India can enter is 59. Malaysia, Indonesia, Maldives, Thailand are some of the countries that provide visa-free access to Indian passport holders. Countries like Sri Lanka, Macau, Myanmar etc. provide visa-on-arrival (VOA).
According to the latest Henley Passport Index, Singapore retains the crown of the world’s most powerful passport with visa-free access to 193 out of 227 destinations in the world. The index is based on exclusive thematic data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and ranks all the world’s passports based on how many destinations their holders can access without a previous visa.
Asian countries lead the race for global mobility, with Japan and South Korea in second place, each granting their citizens visa-free access to 190 destinations.
The rest of the top 5 is made up of a strong European group. Seven EU passports share third place – Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Spain, all of which have access to 189 destinations. Another European group of seven countries, with visa-free access to 188 destinations, is in joint fourth place – Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden – while New Zealand, the only country to challenge regional dominance, is tied for fifth place with Greece and Switzerland.
In other areas of global mobility, Afghanistan is at the bottom, with its citizens able to enter only 25 destinations without a previous visa.
The UK and the US have both fallen one place in the global passport rankings since January, continuing a long-term downward trend. The once world’s most powerful passports – the UK in 2015 and the US in 2014 – are now in sixth and tenth place respectively. The UK currently has visa-free access to 186 destinations, while the US is behind them on 182 destinations. Notably, the US is now on the verge of dropping out of the top 10 for the first time in the index’s 20-year history.
Among the top emerging economies, the United Arab Emirates still holds a distinct position, having jumped 34 places from 42nd to 8th in the past 10 years, making it the only major country to make the top 10 in the ranking. Another notable winner is China, up 34 places from 94th to 60th since 2015 – particularly impressive because, like other top emerging economies, China has yet to gain visa-free access to Europe’s Schengen zone.
Looking back over the past decade, with so many passport powers gaining and rising in the Henley Passport Index, the only 16 passports to fall the most in the rankings is Venezuela, which has fallen 15 places from 30th to 45th, followed by the United States (down 8 places), Vanuatu (-6 places), the United Kingdom (-5 places) and Canada (-4 places).
This downward shift in rankings highlights a broader trend: traditional mobility champions are losing ground in an increasingly multi-polar world. As emerging economies liberalize their visa regimes and invest in diplomatic capital, legacy powers like the United Kingdom and the United States appear to be retreating to more restrictive entry policies.
Dr. Juerg Steffen, CEO of Henley & Partners, said that this trend is reshaping the investment immigration landscape. “Americans are now at the forefront of the demand for alternative residence and citizenship around the world, with British citizens also in the top five globally. As the US and UK increasingly adopt domestic policies, we are seeing a significant increase in interest from their citizens for greater global access and protection. “
