SPT News, Kolkata, 13 February: The West Bengal chapter of Viswa Sindhi Seva Sangam(VSSS) held its first meeting of the year in Kolkata on Sunday. In the meeting, the names of the new committee members were announced under the leadership of West Bengal president Mr. Anil Punjabi. All the members decide their program in a meeting on this day, which includes Sindhi New Year celebration.
Mr. Anil Punjabi, president of West Bengal chapter of VSSS, announced the names of the new committee members that day. They are – Mr. Lalit Kalwani (Vice President), Mr. Naresh R Parnani (Secretary), Mr. Kishin Khairajani (Treasurer). The committee members are – Mr. Arjun Aswani, Mr. Kishore Samtani, Mrs. Paayaal Barwani, Mrs. Divya Kalwani, Mrs. Neeta Punjabi, Mrs. Anita Nankani, Mr. Kishore Choitramani, Mrs. Divya Parnani, Mr. Bharat Sharma, Mrs. Usha Choitramani, Mr. Jackie Samtani.
The discussion of the day focuses on Sindhi language, culture, festivals. At the same time, priority is given to the support of women in higher education. It is said that the Sindhi community gives importance to marriage. The committee laid special emphasis on giving equal status to the Sindhi language.
At the same time, some resolutions were adopted in the meeting of the day. These include health camps on February 25, Holi celebrations on March 7, Cheti Chand (Sindh New Year) on March 19. The day will be celebrated with songs and dances. Sindhi folk dance and music will be performed there. Artists are coming from Rajasthan.
