এসপিটি নিউজ: পর্যটন শিল্পের অন্যতম শীর্ষ সংগঠন ট্রাভেল এজেন্টস ফেডারেশন অব ইন্ডিয়া (TAFI)-র ৪০ বছর পূর্তি উদ্যাপন উপলক্ষে কলকাতার সাউদার্ন অ্যাভিনিউতে এক বিশেষ বৃক্ষরোপণ কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করা হয়। পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণ ও সবুজায়নের বার্তা ছড়িয়ে দিতে আয়োজিত এই উদ্যোগে মোট ৪০টি ফলজ গাছের চারা রোপণ করা হয়েছে।
রোপিত চারাগুলির মধ্যে ছিল পেয়ারা, আম ও কামরাঙা-সহ বিভিন্ন ফলজ গাছ। সংগঠনের ৪০ বছরের এই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মাইলফলককে স্মরণীয় করে তুলতেই প্রকৃতির প্রতি দায়বদ্ধতার নিদর্শন হিসেবে এই উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছেন টাফির পূর্বাঞ্চলীয় শাখার চেয়ারম্যান অনিল পাঞ্জাবি।
তিনি বলেন, “টাফির ৪০ বছরের এই বিশেষ মুহূর্তে আমরা প্রকৃতির প্রতি আমাদের দায়িত্ব পালনের উদ্দেশ্যে সমাজকে কিছু ফিরিয়ে দিতে চেয়েছি। তাই এই বৃক্ষরোপণ কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করা হয়েছে।”
এই কর্মসূচি বাস্তবায়িত হয়েছে মিথ্রি মিত্তি নামে একটি স্বেচ্ছাসেবী সংস্থার সহযোগিতায়। সংস্থাটি দীর্ঘদিন ধরে শহুরে বনায়ন, উপড়ে যাওয়া গাছ উদ্ধার এবং পুনরায় প্রতিস্থাপনের মতো পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণমূলক কাজে সক্রিয়ভাবে যুক্ত রয়েছে।
পর্যটন শিল্পের সঙ্গে পরিবেশের সম্পর্ক অত্যন্ত নিবিড়। সেই দায়বদ্ধতা থেকেই টাফির এই উদ্যোগ শুধু সংগঠনের বর্ষপূর্তি উদ্যাপনেই সীমাবদ্ধ নয়, বরং একটি সবুজ ও টেকসই ভবিষ্যৎ গড়ে তোলার প্রত্যয়ও বহন করছে। উপস্থিত সদস্যরা জানান, ভবিষ্যতেও পরিবেশ রক্ষায় এ ধরনের সামাজিক উদ্যোগ অব্যাহত থাকবে।
সবুজ পৃথিবী গড়ার বার্তা নিয়ে টাফির এই বৃক্ষরোপণ কর্মসূচি পর্যটন শিল্পের সামাজিক দায়বদ্ধতার এক উজ্জ্বল দৃষ্টান্ত হয়ে রইল।

TAFI Marks 40 Years with Tree Plantation Drive in Kolkata
KOLKATA, India, July 16 (Sangbad Prabhakar Times) — The eastern chapter of the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) marked the organisation’s 40th anniversary by planting 40 fruit-bearing saplings along Southern Avenue in Kolkata on Wednesday, underscoring its commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare.
The plantation drive saw the planting of guava, mango and star fruit saplings on a green stretch of the city’s iconic Southern Avenue.
“As TAFI celebrates this significant milestone, we wanted to mark the occasion by giving back to nature,” said Anil Punjabi, Chairman of TAFI’s Eastern Chapter.
The initiative was carried out in collaboration with Mithri Mitti, a non-governmental organisation engaged in urban afforestation as well as the rescue and transplantation of uprooted trees.
The programme reflects the travel industry’s growing emphasis on sustainable tourism and environmental responsibility, with TAFI choosing to commemorate its four decades of service through a project aimed at enhancing Kolkata’s urban green cover.
Industry representatives said the initiative symbolises the federation’s commitment to balancing tourism growth with ecological conservation, while encouraging greater public participation in creating greener and more sustainable cities.
The Travel Agents Federation of India, one of the country’s leading travel trade associations, is celebrating its 40th year with a series of initiatives across India, highlighting both industry development and social responsibility.
